Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Keep in mind that the original TM concept was deemed illegal (an all ages coffee shop that also served booze). They switched to 21-and-over all day long and then eventually stopped serving alcohol entirely when they got in a disagreement with the landlord. If they take over Quay and want to serve a...

Re: Parlor - 1707 Locust
I went Saturday night but was gone well before 10. The opinion from my group was that the food is good, the drinks are good, the beer selection is good, but also "Wow, people sure do like to get dressed up just to hang out at a food court."

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC
It was taken the same day as the 3D imagery, probably near the same time. You can tell because of how the same cars are parked in the same places, even in public parking lots. Pretty both were taken during late summer Good catch, I didn't notice that my 3D-rendered car was in the same spot. In fact...

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC
Aerial imagery for the greater downtown area has been updated again. My car is at work, so it has to have been a weekday. And based on shadows, it was morning. Here's direct links to the views of a few development projects if anyone wants to mine them for clues to try to narrow down a month... https...

Re: Next Mayor 2019
So glad for a temporary reprieve from all the mailers and robocalls and robotexts, especially since almost none of these candidates bothered to clean their lists down to people who actually live in KCMO and so can even vote for these people. Hopefully whomever the two are that emerge from this mess ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
I just saw an announcement about a new bar planned at 120 W 17th called Oak & Steel. https://www.oakandsteelkc.com/ The owner is a local guy. If the address is right then that would make it the ground floor retail spot in the garage across from Webster House.

Just got a breaking news alert that a worker has fallen from the top floor and died.
I seem to recall something similar happening at Traders a few months ago.

Do we still have any pay kiosks in KC that require taking the receipt back to the car? The kiosks on Walnut are the only ones I've used and they are pay-by-plate.

It's gotten tall enough that I can now see it from my office at 30th & Main. I wasn't expecting that.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
The 2016 building collapse in Liberty didn't just take it out, it also impacted both buildings next door. [...] The business to the east luckily had empty space (they had three connected buildings) and just had to relocate to leave the adjacent space. But even that one was never able to fully recov...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Glad they had it too - because while their beer is good quality - you're either drinking a fruity/sour/champagne thing or a heavily hopped pale/IPA. For my personal taste, I'd like to see some of these new places actually craft a friggin' brown/amber ale that's not hopped to death - and maybe mix i...

Re: Parking
I don't see anything wrong with this. I'd rather people who aren't used to driving/parking downtown have an easy alternative than have them clogging up the streets, blocking crosswalks, and being a menace to both pedestrians and people who drive the correct direction on one-way streets.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
^I feel like some of the information the streetcar authority put out was very pro outside-running, especially this matrix, which was one of the first things put out about the differences: http://kcstreetcar.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/MainStExt_PublicMtg2_BoardsMaps-8.pdf And it seems like dedic...

There definitely is (was?) something there. That annoying riding lawnmower hauling brats around used to drive around it. Read that as brats. As in bratwursts. For a second I thought I'd missing out all these years. Hah! I thought the same thing, had to go back to the previous page to get the context.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
I only tried Cascone's once when I lived in the RM, and it wasn't as good as City Diner so I had no reason to ever go back. It doesn't sound to me like the streetcar or parking had anything to do with it, it's more an aging owner so set in his ways that he refused to adapt his menu (and hours) to me...

Great! Now make one more adjustment to that design by adding a connecting ramp to the HOA's bike/ped lane.FangKC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 8:07 pm Proposed Pedestrian/Bicycle Span to Downtown Riverfront Well-Received
