Re: walkable neighborhood fsbo's?
i am very familiar with hyde park, and there is a lot to love about it, especially south hyde park, in terms of building stock and character. i, personally, disagree that west plaza lacks character. there are certainly blocks of south hyde park that feature some miserable infill, as well. but, i...

Re: walkable neighborhood fsbo's?
we want to be closer to work. my wife works at kumed and i work for the fire department. i will probably be transferring in to midtown or downtown in the next year or 2. additionally, i think we'd like to downsize. we have 1 child and one on the way, and we live in a 2300 sq. ft. home with 4 bed...

walkable neighborhood fsbo's?
well, with more than mixed feelings, my wife and i have decided to follow that long pale line out of northeast. we are moving at the end of this month. we are looking for any fsbo's in the west plaza/west 39th/westside neighborhoods, and are willing to look at columbus park and south plaza homes a...

Re: what are the realities of crime levels?
i read i statistic, and i'll try to find the source, about the amount of violent crimes (which are at their lowest rates in decades) versus the amount of airtime crime reporting gets, which has skyrocketted. so the less crime their is, the more reporting is being done on it. that's part of the rea...

i think the implication wasn't that being a prick is an east coast trait, but rather that it is a trait of people pretending to be east coastal.

Chiefs formally withraw superbowl bid
channel 5 reported that the chiefs have withdrawn their 2015 superbowl bid, which i guess is the obvious consequence of removing the rolling roof from the august ballot. and i would just like to take this opportunity to once again thank the subnormal voters of jackson county for confirming my long ...

Re: OFFICIAL: East Village downtown neighborhood
michael and i talked about this in a different thread a few months ago, when the east village stuff just hit the star, and i think we're pretty much on the same page now...this development is pretty certainly going to go through, and if it looks like the renderings (which it probably won't...) we sh...

i like the part where the author suggests that over the past century farmers "abandoned" (as opposed to "where forced off") their land, and exurban developments are repopulating rural america. laughable and shameful at the same time.

Re: Bike Commuter Challenge, Bike to Work Week
anyone have suggestions for riding from st. john and benton to 99th and holmes. i think its about 14 miles, which is well beyond my comfort zone, so if anyone has any "least hilly route" ideas i'd appreciate it. oh, and maybe an estimated travel time...
