The first major structure you see at most airports is a massive parking structure.
KC screws up plenty of stuff, but cmon. This is SOP for modern airports, for better or worse.

even in the long shot world where both teams leave, having strong transit connections to the core will go a long way to a sustainable walkable redevelopment.

For poking a lobbyist in the chest. I don’t like the guy but context is helpful.

Re: Three Light
“HUD” didn’t hold up the project, one man at HUD caused the delay. The same issues were not brought up about two light but one man took it upon himself to make it a issue this time and did so at the very last minute. After the developer had essentially lined up start dates and JED planned to begin....

According to the news article today, what DCole said here was exactly correct. Leads me to believe he’s probably right about the south loop cap too. I say that because yesterday a few were trying to say he was wrong. You've said your expertise is in politics. You should be aware that in development...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Agreed, the current vendor is a joke. They’re lucky they were considered at all. A quick glance at the rumored winner shows they manage concessions at Midway in Chicago. https://www.vantageairportgroup.com/networks/midway-international-airport/ Fwiw I know of other local (well respected) bbq spots w...

Re: NBA to Kansas City
Feels pretty gross and detached from humanity to be speculating on how KC can benefit from a disaster that’s still unfolding. If anyone has been doing their due diligence, they’ve been speculating where to move things for the last week. I never said they should haven’t organizational preparedness p...

You're not going to put a public parking garage under a major stadium for safety reasons, never mind the cost.
Post 9-11, city hall/public safety is bound to raise concerns with that.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
I would not be surprised if the APM's timetable gets bumped up slightly because of the infrastructure bill. Especially if KCI can sell it as a "greening" measure by getting busses off the road. I’m pretty sure the economy bus fleet has gone to all CNG or electric busses, someone correct m...

Was mentioned before that the unused retail corner NW of 14th/Main may be demolished for one of the Lights. 2 questions for you guys 1. Would this^ location be right next to Strata then? 2. Why wouldn't they just build on top of the retail sitting there? Could still use the street level retain in t...

IMO Winstead's has been crap for at least 15-20 years now. Dirty interiors, rude waitstaff, long waits for food, shrinking portion sizes, QC non-existent. Freddy's coming to town had to have hurt them. Similar food is delivered more consistently, efficiently, and often with better customer interacti...

I can tell you from my own professional experience when Trump imposed the steel tariffs a few years back, structural steel prices jumped significantly. A number of projects I was working on had to be re-bid/VE'd to accommodate the sudden cost jump.

That's pathetic. If Port KC thinks that's the highest and best use of that land, KC is going to get really left behind in the next 10 years.

It's still a shocking downgrade in quality for such a prominent spot in one of the top metro attractions. Disappointed that management thought that Rally House's prototypical finishes were acceptable. I'm sure the Parisi people don't love it either.

Fair enough, just genuinely curious.
I'm ambivalent towards Kander, but his Twitter presence always feels extremely contrived to me (even by politician standards). To hear that there's another persona is not surprising in the slightest.
