Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'd be just fine if Southwest didn't continue to dominate 2/3 of the flights out of MCI. It's better than no option, but I'd like more competition from the legacy carriers.

Re: "RideKC Next" transit system redesign
I think we have much common ground, Dave. I just hate to see such significant swaths of the city largely ignored, and that goes as you said for East Jack, Johnson, and Wyandotte too. I will admit I don't have an immediate answer to what should be cut to add to the northland, but I think a (relativel...

Re: "RideKC Next" transit system redesign
There will be a major project announced soon that will modernize and expand the existing RideKC Flex services in the Northland. It doesn't make a lot of sense to continue running traditional bus service where the population and job density is low and there's very little infrastructure to support wa...

Re: Baseball stadium on the IRS campus site?
IRS does use that building year round. It would be a great place for a stadium but it isn't likely to happen.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
If FIFA cared even a little bit about human rights then they would've pulled the 2022 World Cup out of Qatar years ago. And Russia in 2018. It’s obvious major sports industries only care about human rights abuses, or perceived “abuses”, only when it’s in a first world nation in the west. The olympi...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
My commute is at 5:45 in the morning so it's only a few minutes longer to go through NKC. I'm not sure how much longer it is during normal commute times. I just don't understand what is gained as a whole by inconveniencing such a large swath of the city by taking away one of four bridges that even p...

Re: New Broadway Bridge
For those proponents of axing any connection to downtown via 169, how are people who live in the western half of the northland supposed to access downtown? If 169 was no longer an option then the only remaining lanes go through NKC or get bottlenecked to a single lane where 29 and 35 merge. Fairfax...

normalthings, you've been pretty knowledgeable about details of the new terminal. If you don't mind me asking, what is your connection to know some of these details?

Re: Politics
2022 will be a bloodbath for Dems, they are not going to take control of the Senate (and they will lose control of the House). The House will probably be up for grabs, but I'm not sure you've taken a look at the 2022 Senate map. The following currently Democratic held states have senate elections: ...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront
Two questions I have after seeing that image: 1) What's the estimated timeline on that 3rd and Grand development? It sounds like most, if not all, of the public parking would be re-purposed there? Or is there going to be an upwards direction to that development to include all of the things that are ...

This appears to be officially a thing as UHaul is renting out trucks at this location as of about a week ago. I, for one, am thrilled to see anything at all happen to this building.

Re: New Broadway Bridge
Has anybody seen any actual work done on the bridge since it was closed? I drive northbound every day around 2:45 and I've never seen any sign of workers, though much of the work may be needed on the underside of the bridge.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Not that it should be a priority right now, but has anybody ever considered a circular rail line on 10th/13th and Washington/Charlotte? It would be within a block of two current streetcar stops on the south side and one block of a stop on the north side while connecting Municipal Auditorium/Bartle H...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Just so I know for next time, does this include the big lot at 3rd and Grand (by the bus stops)? I usually park there and take the streetcar to events at the Music Hall instead of dealing with the cluster that is Barney Allis garage. Also the article said weekends would be free, is there any indicat...

Hard to form much of an opinion either way based on 5 pictures, but I'm sure it will be an improvement.
