Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
wonder why the only months you see YoY increases is (generally) the summer months? All others are either lower, flat or slightly up. Downtown population theoretically has increased...has worker pop also increased? Is everyone healthier by walking then or will the additional units help with the forme...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
Yes. Royals Stadium in the 1970s and 1980s was gorgeous. The remodeled K is a desperate attempt to make baseball more appealing while increasing revenue. Downtown doesn’t need the Royals, but the Royals might need Downtown. Agreed on that comment...not sure anyone would attend a CO Rockies game if ...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
Macro solution - abort north loop, keep ditch for parking and commuter rail link, remove walnut bridge, Cerner stadium east of main, west of grand, easy fit and on the people mover with parking aplenty and commuter link

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Also didn’t he people elect to be taxed directly for the streetcar. What the fuck is the new council thinking correct....like taxing district 1/3 mile on either side. pricey but worth it. "council thinking" is an oxymoron perhaps. But it would be akin to fraud to tax it then reboot to pay...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I wonder if there is extra funds in the DT streetcar district due to rapidly growing sales tax receipts and property tax value growth? If this extra money can be used for free buses while also keeping the streetcar free and updated, that might make sense, though it seems that money should go back t...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
A presentation by the Urban League to the council during Business Session today recommended removing the city's $2million annual contribution to the streetcar budget and using those funds to help pay for free KCATA services. I don't know about whether that is a viable proposal or not, but the most ...

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main
agreed as it goes to extreme detail to highlight items no one can see or appreciate or matter. what a stretch. in the end this will most likely fail economically due to poor aesthetics vs other alternatives nearby....just because you can, does'nt mean you should...

Not stellar growth @5% considering OKC, Nashville, Louisville and Indy all regionally kicked butt. How can KC do better?

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?
Ah, er, half the people could walk to a downtown stadium. simple entertainment value for day games and after work. visit other cities with urban stadiums, I mean integrated, urban stadiums, not St Louis. They walk, sure cars and busses too. Denver doesnt even have light rail hit the stadium but peop...

Re: High Speed Rail - someday?
good summary Dave and was hoping to solicit your input/expertise as the transit fanatic(?) it seems you are. Agreed a 110+MPH, reliable, and 2x+/day scenario could be widely used and begin to be competitive with air travel, especially on shorter routes where TSA(ingress/egress) hassles add hours to ...

Re: High Speed Rail - someday?
I dont buy the legal/cost RoW issue. I used to take out almond (amond to CA folk) trees for drilling and charge was per tree based on county-assessor costs. very fair. then think about how Ike mandated interstates. at some point it has to be the same, some will lose ground but that's the role of the...

High Speed Rail - someday?
Someone in the know tell me a story about how, where and when this will happen in the US and KC. See fits and starts in East Coast and Texas line but no large scale Eisenhower-type initiative. Always thought that is what Obama should have enacted as a recovery plan. When the Chinese put their mind()...
