Re: KC in TV and Movies
Awesome. Thanks for sharing! To save the rest of you some time: it isn't on Netflix. I searched. Apologies if this is a duplicate but my search didn't turn anything up and I can't read back through 56 pages . . . When we lived in the historic Northeast our older neighbors told us that they remembere...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
glad to see this building saved but even better is that there is a momentum of downtown residents who are now impacting things that happen downtown. that's the much bigger deal here. downtown as a community is maturing. Agreed. I think even 5 years ago, this would have come down with a few whimpe...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
As an aside, The MIXX is completely dead to me. I go by there at night and they are closed all the time. Even tried to go there for lunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, closed. I hate them, and will never go back there, even if they are open. They barely even tried. This frustrates me. Let @mis...

Re: What should Kansas City rename itself as?
Isn't reacting that wanting to change the name is only because we have an inferiority complex kinda part of that same complex? I don't like this idea just for the sake of it, but it would be an amazing move the likes of which nobody has ever tried. As part of a massive national branding campaign, it...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
As for whether or not this makes for an effective "spine", it doesn't. But I don't think a spine should have but a couple downtown stops - say Union Station and the River Market - and the rest of the area should be served by things like buses and streetcars. This is exactly the point. Thi...

Re: The Worst Chain Restaurant in America
I'm a fan of Subway. Any chain where I can get a heaping pile of vegetables in the middle of nowhere America, I'm game. And I find the bread to be decent too. I wouldn't pick it over a local joint, but it is a go-to in a pinch or a hurry. Cheesecake Factory always pissed me off because of their adve...

Re: YJ's Snack Bar
i haven't walked by yj's recently but my impression has been that their outdoor seating tends to take up much of the sidewalk. ada requires 30 inches minimum for wheelchair passage. and even if there were no ada, i'd want at least half of the sidewalk (or maybe five feet, whichever is less) avail...

If there was an iPad2 for Acer trade-in program, I would jump on it in a second. That looks like a great device. Is it still light/sleek enough to be almost invisible in a bag?

Re: Android's new hardware
Thanks. That is what I was looking for. I'd hate to be halfway through the rooting process and have my phone try to download an OTA update. I will probably wait until I manually force the install of Gingerbread tomorrow. Also, is anyone aware of a program developed to expedite the rooting proces...

Re: Android's new hardware
I still haven't rooted my Evo, though I am thinking about it more and more each day. This update is making me think I could hold off on rooting a little bit longer. Is anyone aware if the update will make rooting my phone more difficult? If so, should I try to root the phone before the update rol...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Would the whole city vote on it, or just the folks within the propose taxing district? This is a point of some debate. If the TDD was used to fund the proposal in its entirety, the election would only be for the TDD area. It wouldn't have to cover the entire area that the streetcar served as it def...

Re: Apple's new hardware
For consumers, doesn't the cloud start lose its appeal the more that broadband providers meter their services? That is the current reality, but the future reality is one where things like Google Fiber exist. Our broadband service in this country is abysmal, but it will be forced to keep up. And the...

Yael: Google hype could give KC costly, inferior product http://www.missattitude.us/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Debbie_Downer.jpg That's pretty silly. It isn't as if the fiber optics are going to be less awesome and transmitting light. The other infrastructure can be easily upgraded, and the jump on...

Re: Convention hotel proposal for P&L building (and surrounding block)
I was wondering when that was going to happen. Hopefully, they're not downgraded too badly. The rooms are OK, but both need multi-million dollar lobby renovations. Surely Hyatt wouldn't be cool with not having a hotel here, would they? Perhaps a shake-up prompted by whose flag might fly on the vap...

Second the MAX stop idea. It would be awesome to hop a bus to midtown and then grab a bike for running around after not having to climb the hill or haul my own bike from home. Makes the spontaneous outing easy.
