Re: New Coaster coming to WOF
IIRC World’s of Fun’s original “theme” was loosely based on Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne, hence the vaguely international themed ride names and the hot air balloon branding. Seems like that global premise would be an easy one to lean into, and has lots of precedent to look at I was al...

If not thinking KCMO is going to magically get anywhere remotely near this scale of infill because of a stadium project is pessimistic: https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/299479056_10217106775342057_1547489179778815955_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=730e14&_nc_ohc=7_Zf...

I like Minsky's because it's nostalgic for me, but they really need to figure out how to make pizza.

If it's going to be a giant dead zone anyway, keep it at the giant dead zone that is TSC? /shrug I dunno, like, seems logical to me? I was hugely HUGELY on a "bring the Royals downtown!" train around 2005, when I lived downtown and had just rediscovered the team I had watched religiously a...

Given they screwed it up the first time, I have to think they made pretty darn sure not to do so again. Or at least I really hope so.

It sounds like they couldn't get much busier anyway, good for them. Sounds like a gem of a place.

Sure, although to be fair when you choose to spend more on defense than literally the rest of the top ten defense spenders combined, it seems a little odd to then turn around and say, "damn it, why are we spending so much money?!"

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
I just don't understand the push on here for light rail to the stadium, especially if the baseball portion of it will not be there. No one will ride it on a regular basis besides the 10 games a year and, even then, how do you haul your bbq grill. It's really the dumbest idea I've heard on this boar...

I don't like the guy, but you almost have to admire his ambition to race to the bottom as quickly as possible. It's like he drank the kool aid and is gonna at least pretend to believe he made the right life choice regardless of what the reality around him looks like.

I was then, and remain, a hard pass on publicly funding sports facilities. It will happen anyway, but it's literally the masses willfully voting a massive "F you" to themselves.

I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that people who believe the bible is the actual literal word of god and is infallible and inerrant, would have a quasi-religious relationship with our country's founding documents. I further suppose it shouldn't be surprising that people who believe in a big str...

Re: Want to be amazed by KC BBQ again.
The best BBQ I ever had in Texas was at Bolner's Market in San Antonio. Holy smokes was it fantastic, and it actually, until they closed anyway (and much to my KC-native shame) would have made the top of my list for best brisket anywhere. Salt Lick in Austin was pretty meh the one time I tried it, n...

I wasn't meaning to call anyone specific out at all, least of all anyone here, I'm not sure how you read that into what I wrote. Just randomly opining about the state of things in the country and the broader psychology of Trumpistan generally.

Re: Arabia Steamboat Museum Looking for New Home
I'm sure when everyone gets their wish and the Royals move downtown, we will not have any such problems and fireworks Fridays will continue with no complaint. I can't tell if you are being serious or not lol. No, of course not. I suspect that kind of thing would go over even less well here than it ...
