I guarantee you that remains a parking lot for the foreseeable future.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:18 pm Thanks. I was hoping this was also including the "parking lot" across Grand.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Supposed announcement coming soon walking back the Oak Street closure, and possibly some change in direction with ancillary development. Crossroads has pushed hard on both, after the small business support of course. Ancillary development should err on the side of adaptive reuse -- a Crossroads hall...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
No one has made a clear case why East Village was discarded after years of contemplation, other than "too expensive" or "MoDOT/feds don't like it". Not saying I don't believe it because I know the complexity of those players, but the opacity here is beyond frustrating. And the di...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
Indeed, the attack took down their main operations system that collects ridership data from the sensors above the doors. Buses are able to run in this case because the operators do have printed schedules they can use, but that same system tells them whether they're on time or not. Interested to see ...

Could see 18th and Vine streetcar get to a study in not long. Talks are starting to heat up. Funding Funding Funding is the limiting factor. Cost estimates for North Rail and E/W have spiraled out of control. What quarters are these talks heating up in? I'm still unsure what funding for Linwood E/W...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Does anyone know who designed Barney Allis? Or Ilus Davis? Or the small plaza to the south of the Federal Building? I'm asking because of the similarities in design. I feel like all three were designed to make sense to people 20 stories up and not to be pleasant to people on the ground. The biggest...

That's only part of the story. Of course the Mayor, City Manager, Cordish, Downtown Council and others wanted it in East Crossroads but there were enough complexities with East Village that made it an easy decision for the Royals. It's not as simple as some big swinging dick wanted it somewhere els...

How the hell did we get this far down the line -- including another round of demolition and displacement in EV itself -- before EV was "suddenly" ruled out? The feds don't control land use and there are lots of federal facilities next to more dangerous things. That also doesn't bode well ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Is there any movement on any of Brad Nicholson's parking lots across Walnut Street? I guess for a long-time there were rumors of an office deal on the site but I assume with commercial office demand being so low, he'll likely just keep them as parking lots for the foreseeable future. It's a shame. ...

Of note, the team hasn't signed off on the Crossroads deal and their new general counsel (what happened to Adam Sachs?!?!) is all over this making sure it sounds like a commitment but really isn't. (I don’t count the Stray Cat, because I’ve visited basements with a larger projector setup) Not sure how you can't count Stray Cat. Exhibition has changed so much since the pandemic. By this definition there's no theater anywhere in the urban core other than B&B. There is also a movie theater a...
