Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
This can't seriously be torn down, right? That is absolutely insane and makes me not want to come on here to learn about depressing things like this. Gas lines shut off and barrier fence up. No one’s paying attention. Our leaders are too busy watching the Chiefs games and promoting their jobs after...

Not much, just supporters trying to drive conversation of expansion, etc. Nothing official. I'm not sure if they ever did something similar to the NextRail study we did in KC. Supporters of the Cincinnati streetcar project will reveal nine potential new routes at a public forum scheduled for Thursda...

Hard to believe this is finally happening. I mean, it's not an architectural masterpiece but it's better than a brownfield site.

Cool video/reel about the project shared on that same insta @KCPowercat linked. https://www.instagram.com/rockislandkc/reel/CyHXaQWPp2W/ Great video by the Rock Island Bridge team. Re: OFFICIAL - Prairiefire
It makes no sense to me why a College Baseball HoF should belong in suburban Overland Park except tax subsidies. Overland Park and the metro does not have a single D-1 college baseball team or any other meaningful connection to College Baseball as far as I know. Why would anyone visit this? If anyth...

Sure, I get that she is advocating for KCT and KCPS with similar goals, but she's not a third-party lobbyist hired by both the school and KCT in conjunction - she is a KCPS employee. Her role specifically resolves around school public policy initiatives surrounding development incentives while also ...

Re: News from Omaha
Interesting. It kind of shows the increased complexity and cost of renovating the existing terminal versus the clean slate new KCI one, even factoring in interest/inflation. Do you think they would seriously run BRT or even streetcar to the new airport in the future? It's not really that far away fr...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee
It does seem to have to pose an issue in that KCPS completely mismanaged this building resulting in yet another vacant crater downtown while at the same time advocating against any subsidies to help develop this and other vacant craters throughout KC into buildings. It's an example of how they have ...

So many pages of back and forth. Here is a starting pro/con list. Feel free to quote and add or comment. Crossroads Pro: - More “integral” part of downtown - Closer to Power and Light - Adjacent to 670 park cap + additional blocked capped - Existing infrastructure - Closer to Streetcar - Existing su...

Sporting is still investing money into CMH, and there is still the American Royal and youth soccer fields going out there along with the training complex thing. I haven't seen anything publicly indicating they are going to leave. The Crossroads may be a better geographical site as it's closer to PNL...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit
Westport road makes way too much sense for a regional system versus how slow 39th st. shared lanes will be. We should just stop building shared lanes on the streetcar wherever possible. Eminent domain that unused portion of the Westport Landing strip mall parking lot and replace that whole cluster w...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit
Eliminating on-street parking and have streetlight priority for the Streetcar could help make 39th work better where dedicated lanes aren't possible. 35th/Armor is heavily residential and has limited opportunity to further develop than is already there vs Linwood which has multiple older mid-rises a...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit
Agreed with all the above that Westport Rd. seems to have a much wider ROW. It's KU I'm sure that made the requirement that the line terminate there. It's a big employer for sure so that make sense but what's the point of spending all this money for the streetcar to just be stuck in 39th st. traffic...
