Re: Hotel Overbuilding?
Just a question, because I don't know: would Omni be happy with 200 rooms?

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
She lives in Charlotte. Large airport. Cell phone lot for years. Apparently she has never had to pick anyone up from the airport here. So, it was a new experience for her. That's all. And KCPowercat: people on here are constantly expressing opinions about parking lots.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Spoke with an acquaintance who flies with some frequency to KC to visit friends. She was a fan of the old terminal. Said the new terminal is beautiful - her word, but just like every other airport. Spoke positively of the cell phone lot, which her friends used.

Re: Cost of Living
Actually, for their sample basket, KC was below the national average - KC $25.54 vs national average $26.20 - even after a higher than average rate of increase.

Re: Capping the Loop
That's great. But take a look at that park. Would you ever want to take a book or a dog or a friend and just hang out there? Haven't been there but, honestly, from the photo it looks so unwelcoming. And, I don't see many people taking advantage of it. Sure hope the South Loop is nothing like it. I'm...

According to the article in today's KCBJ, the traffic study submitted was based on the two tower version topping at 20 floors. So glad to see this, instead.

Chris, I'll be very happy to have been wrong about the 20 story height and see this happen.

Does anyone here know who designed the current BAP and Ilus Davis Park? HNTB?

Re: Power and Light District Official Tenant List
I think it would be easier to do something interesting and fun with the change of elevation at the Wyandotte end if Walnut were the choice for closure rather than Baltimore. Hopefully they won't view that change as a liability and try to mask it.

i agree about HR Block. Always wished it was about 6 stories taller. Much nicer proportions. Now, we just need some really interesting buildings along south Truman.

Re: 12th and Broadway site: RFP for mixed use
I can't help but think the city knew exactly what was going to happen and still went along in hopes it would keep the US headquarters. People need to scream bloody murder. In three years headquarters moves to KS and CPKC holds onto property as an investment. Nothing happens. Carpenters redux. Somebo...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
That would be nice, Chris, (and I hope so) but it's not the way I read the CityScene article. First floor and rooftop uses are listed for both the apartments and hotel. The first floor hotel lobby would include a couple small food and beverage operations totaling about 3,300 square feet. There would...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
According to CityScene, the original proposal was 30 stories, 300 apartments, 200 hotel rooms and the new proposal calls for a 20-story apartment building and 10-story, still 200-room, hotel. For reference, as I'm sure many people on here know, the P&L building roof tops at 481 ft. (According to...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Three thoughts. If the Merrimans and Americo become focused on the NKC property, how does that bode for development of the old Plaza hotel site? Maybe they have the resources to do both. If the NKC site wins the ballpark, what might the surrounding development look like? It's a lot of land. Any hope...

Re: NFL Draft
Does anyone know what, if anything, US is receiving in payment for this disruption of normal income generating activity? Or, are they just viewing this as good publicity and going with that? Or, do they have no choice or say?
