Have all those non-profits in the mall like that cat adoption place or the election office gotten eviction notices? Don't they get tax breaks for giving those places free or reduced rent? All the remaining for profits in that mall on long term or short term leases? Has the Glenwood art house gotten ...

Re: Is KC a hit among millenials?

This generation is having fewer children than any and apparently also highest % who have no interest in ever having children. The urban public school issues need to be fixed around the US but won't matter as much to the increase of singles/dinks/retired who live in city cores, especially as some em...

But there a lot of Millennial families in Waldo/BKS/Midtown who are either going the charter route, creating charters, or navigating the KCSD. It's encouraging that they seem...

Re: Penn Valley QT

There's a lot of gas-less 7-11s here, but they are always slightly decrepit, even in the suburbs. as much as i hate the way QT elbows it's way into neighborhoods (they just tore down a two story urban building at Big Bend and Manchester to build a massive QT right in Maplewood/Richmond Heights high...

Re: Penn Valley QT

QTs are all corporate owned, many 7-11s are franchised out to people who spend little on their stores, including security, some 7-11s have gas pumps, others don't, would QT franchise a pumpless store?

Annoyingly, they are completely ditching old locations for major intersections and leaving dead gas station blight behind.

Re: New KC Zoo Penguin Exhibit

The idea I've heard that makes more sense is to have local folks be able to get a free pass for use any one day in the year. Spreads out the crowd, prevents the knucklehead factor, not to mention the possibility of screening for deadbeats, tax scofflaws, etc. Will they be mailing passes to every ta...

They wouldn't have this problem with crowds if it was free every day. St. Louis Zoo would have this problem on a bigger scale if they charged admission on most days and had occasional free days like this.

So, the Jones has to be going away right? Like, it will be closed this summer and then open next summer to bring in some cash--but that's it right? No way people will pay $1,000/mo. to listen to/look at that on the weekends...right? That pool will become the One Light pool for residents. RIGHT? I'm...

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunde

High prices for real estate help ensure that land doesn't sit idle, but they don't keep buildings from getting knocked down. At New York prices, small buildings are likelier to get bulldozed (to build something taller) than they are in KC. I do think attitude is an important factor. New Yorkers in ...
