Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Super cool video and a ton of progress made so far. The east end of the site already has the outline of a foundation. This thing is moving fast -- should see it poke into the skyline by the end of the year.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
The development tracker has the general development plan for the East Crossroads Milhaus development at 19th & Oak. 3 phases to the plan, which is still preliminary: Phase 1: 70-unit, rectangular 4-5 story building facing 19th with street-level retail 78-unit, rectangular 5 story building facin...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
One area that seems a bit under-discussed on this thread is the influx of 750+ jobs to the area. In addition Tk the hundreds of temporary construction jobs, this hotel will be the largest employee to open up downtown in years. While these jobs aren’t the traditional white-collar disk jobs, they are ...

Re: Another 16th & Main hotel
Major metros have Starbucks every few blocks. As density and population increase (think 2/3/4 light) they will definitely open one in P&L.

As trivial as a Starbucks is, this is a great addition to the Xroads IMO.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
The hype certainly didn’t live up to the announment IMO, however, this is the first business locating to P&L. The coworking space will bring white collar workers to the district that, adding some economic diversity, which is essential for any neighborhood to thrive. If the announcement was tweet...

Re: On-going downtown development projects
This is a big bet on the future of the west bottoms, which has been incredibly slow to develop and lacking any type of retail or new construction. Yes, this is a pretty bland building, but’s it’s removing a service parking lot, adding 200+ housing units, hopefully increasing essential retail (bank, ...

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
Drove past the site today and noticed a lot of progress. All of the windows have been installed and the limestone(?) trim along the ground floor has been completed too. The site was full of activity and they seem to be cranking on this. I would expect this project to open sometime before the end of ...

Re: Amenities missing from downtown
All of the above are places within corporate towers. Why downtown KC is missing (outside of P&L) is ground floor retail. Period.

Re: Misc Crossroads News
In this case, a vacant would more attractive than a building that’s fallen into disrepair. As great as it would be to restore this building (which is beautiful), this represents an opportunity for a taller building with more use cases and more density. There is momentum downtown and someone will wan...
