Re: Good places for Kids to eat Downtown
The cafe in Union Station is a great atmosphere for kids. The Harvey House did move into the old Union Cafe space in the middle of the Great Hall. It has the same menu as when it was in the old Harvey House space--burgers and such. It's two levels so the kids would like sitting on the upper level...

Re: Convention hotel proposal for P&L building (and surrounding block)
Excellent posts by the two previous, Shinatoo and Fang KC. This is the kind of thinking that ties all of the mentioned amenities together and puts the new hotel in the middle of two revenue streams, the convention center and the Sprint/P&L districts. A creative funding collaboration utilizing ...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
The KC Zoo would be free too if there was an area-wide tax that would support it like the St. Louis area has. The Missouri legislature has passed enabling legislation that would allow Missouri-area counties to levy a tax for the zoo--can't remember the tax levy amount. Once the economy picks up, M...

Re: Convention hotel proposal for P&L building (and surrounding block)
I agree that adding a tower that mimics the historic original would be ideal if allowed under the historic preservation guidelines. In regards to the placement of the tower west of the original P&L building--the original tower was built with a blank west facade to accommodate a twin tower compl...

Re: Village West will be very influencial in KC's future
I agree. I'm also an ex-dotte but very interested in seeing ALL of Wyco turn around. The Village West/Speedway/etc. developments are necessary for the unified govt to gain the increased revenues (eventually) that will enable greater emphasis on the eastern part of the city. Meanwhile, as they wai...

Re: Convention hotel proposal for P&L building (and surrounding block)
I agree that the P&L building/immediate adjacent property needs to be filled before "bridging the gap". This would create a developed corridor between the CC and the P&L district/Sprint Center. Density creates a far more comfortable "walkability" visual for pedestrians,...

Re: Study confirms downtown renaissance and value to KC budget
Just want to add my own observations about the effect of the ongoing revitalization of downtown. I live in the burbs and have always been a downtown booster as I see the core representing the entire metro. Since the recent efforts downtown like the Sprint arena, P & L and new housing, I conti...
