Re: Pursuing another downtown attraction
Main street along the streetcar starter route should be an urban paradise from start to finish. Right now there are too many garages, blank walls, and surface lots. I’m thinking particularly about the stretch from Petticoat Lane to the River Market. No reason anywhere even close to a streetcar line ...

Re: Fire Damages Church at 9th and Forest
That's sad. I was hoping that, since it had stayed up for so long after the fire, that they were going to just leave it.

Also, here's the west alternative, for comparison.

I think the west alternative was the best option, but the central alternative is good too

Re: Westport
If you enjoyed the building for its scrappiness, that’s valid. I might disagree, but to each their own. However, you can’t defend it as historic, since it lacked anything, physical or otherwise, that would make it historic. Everything it contributed to early Westport was long gone by the time it got...

Re: Westport
I’m generally a historic preservation advocate, but even I don’t see the bank building’s significance. It had basically zero architectural integrity due to all the remodels, and was not directly associated with any major historic events. Unless it had been restored to its period of significance, I r...

I've been thinking a lot about this site, and I think this is my #1 choice for the location of a 1KCP-sized landmark skyscraper. Something like the renderings normalthings made. I think the twisty tower Copaken has been showing is too small for the site. https://i.imgur.com/yLokf9K.jpg https://i.img...

Re: Lighting up KC's skyscrapers
Found a cool old image of the P&L illuminated at night showing how the "balconies" near the ground level were originally intended for holding floodlights, giving the building a much more uniform lighting scheme than today. https://i.imgur.com/o8UfhKb.png https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.c...

Re: OFFICIAL - Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore
Looking at the site yesterday, I really really wish this could just become a small park, bluff and all. The Power and Light building is just so cool and powerful looking. You can appreciate the building even more now that the South face is exposed. A really interactive park with some great landscap...

Re: OFFICIAL - Embassy Suites (former Federal Reserve)
A user on Reddit says a chunk of facade fell off this building today Did anyone else downtown just witness the huge chunk of concrete fall about 9 stories from the old Federal Reserve building? Happened at about 1:50pm. They're renovating the inside of the building but that wasn't supposed to happen...

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time
The VFW building on Broadway used to look a little different. Used to be called the Medical Arts Building. https://pendergastkc.org/collection/9130/10017940/medical-arts-building https://pendergastkc.org/sites/default/files/styles/high_resolution/public/collections/29MVSCP21/10017940-001.jpg?itok=bj...

Hey LastGentleman, what site do you use to host your photos? They load incredibly slow for me. I don't have the same problem with other photos on this site. Also, thank you for taking the time and effort to provide us all with these great photos. Glad you enjoy them! I use Imgur to host everything....
