federal issue: the fed should just simply state the obvious: denying gays the ability to marry is unconstitutional, unfounded, exclusionary, and ridiculous. state issue: carrying out this federal ruling and enforcing it and regulating it as they do marriage already. if we waited for "the states...

from a friend of mine: I think somebody should make an "accurate" version of Spanish Colonization. Those catholics hanging indian carcasses like meat, and lopping it off for their dogs...cutting off hands when they don't return with enough gold dust....riding on the backs of indians rather...

yeah, and what's so weird to me is that this isn't even a moral issue. there is nothing about homosexuality or gay marriage that is a "moral" problem. it's just that some people are uncomfortable with it for (often) religious reasons. but, once you get outside religious texts, there is not...

i dont think many jewish people would support that. a lot of jewish people that i know are at best ambivalent toward christianity and some are outright hostile. but yeah, i say go for it.

whoaaa, what? the majority of what? it's not even the majority of america, let alone the world. what do you mean? plus, at the rate islam is growing, it will literally be the biggest religion in the world. perhaps the us should wise up to that before they number in the billions and freakin' squash u...

well if the states decided it, it must be right!!! the states rights argument is just an insincere, easy way to pawn off having to face tough questions. are we the friggin' confederacy? gay marriage? let the states decide. death penalty? let the states decide. abortion limits? let the states decide....

heh...yeah i heard about him being struck by lightning. poor guy. he's just trying to play a part and big bad god tries to strike him down! i am definitely going to see the movie. if nothing else, this movie is likely to be a cultural phenomenon. i have to scoff at those, however, who plan on using ...

gibson is free to make whatever movie he wants, but... it seems odd that he would choose to focus the whole movie on jesus' torture and about 1% of it on jesus' actual teachings. i'd learn a lot more from hearing his thoughts than watching a bunch of thugs lash him with whips and drive nails through...

haha. thanks for the list but i know what "values" are. i have my own. i meant what are "our values" that you speak of - because that seems to imply everyone has the same. my point is that values dont have to be tied to religion. e.g. what would jesus say about drugs? medical mar...

gay marriage: absolutely 100%, no questions asked BRING IT ON. Why? lots of reasons. (1) it's only fair. marriage, in the eyes of the us government, is little more than a simple contract. americans essentially have the freedom to enter into any contract they want. a ban on gay marriage is essentiall...

manchester rd. in west st. louis county is probably the worst traffic nightmare i have ever seen, second only to I-40 in west st. louis county.
metcalf is our Manchester, but the latter is much worse.

i always wondered that as well. that area is mostly a very sparse, rural residential area. south of 40, along noland road, the development just STOPS. it must be zoning or something. but yeah, that area is pretty much all single family homes on big wooded lots, along windy narrow roads. it's also a ...

are we hypocrites when talking about the Northland?
i can't help but notice that a lot of threads about the northland are EXTREMELY positive. it's common to see things like "great to see the Northland exploding!" and "in 20 years, the northland will have more people than JoCo!" and the like. here's my question: why are we so excit...

yknow, STLDan, i was going to be my typical smartass self and say something really biting in response to your comment.....but i started thinking about it, and i think youre probably quite right. for every guy in aldo, johnston&murphy, and bacco bucci in town, there are at least 3 in cowboy boots...

while i strongly dislike ATL's sprawling nature, i think that if i moved (or got relocated) to ATL in, say, 1993, I probably wouldn't have moved to the city proper either. only now is the city proper emerging as a legit place for people to move. the city has a serious crime (and crime image) problem...

heheh.....uhhhhh, ok. top 5 bldgs it is!!! i suppose that still makes KC "better" than DC. go ahead and use the "top 5 bldgs" model for gauging the "worth" of a city, but i think you'll find youre selling a lot of cities short. i have a question though, and i am sincere...

i actually really like CiCi's pizza. and the cinnamon dessert thing is simply the best - right up there with Cinna-Stix. my favorite pizza in KC is probably either D'Bronx (though i am much more likely to get their hot meatball sub) or Pyramid Pizza in westport, though i hear it has gone downhill. a...
