Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?
So spent some time just exploring KC on this last trip, driving walking etc with my son who has become quite the urban planner type (live in DC, travels Europe just to enjoy their cities etc). As we walked around the plaza we had some observations. The Plaza needs help. It’s just not doing all that ...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!
The local funding aspect is the reason why this reaches as many parts of the metro as possible, to ensure a regional vote wouldn’t be DOA What I'm saying is the local area will never be able to fund rail to the speedway or KCI without a ton of federal money and KC is not getting any federal money f...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!
The biggest question is not the routes, its the funding. The funding will determine the routes. Anyways, if I could Sim City it, I'd largely reconstruct some of the old SC routes but leave out others (like Excelsior). https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1QOEA7sURW-MUg1tX4z8el_aHd8dreJE&usp=s...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!
It's a fine design. The problem is that all the ends of those lines (Legends, Lee's Summit, Olathe, Belton, etc) their whole goal is to literally keep you from going downtown. And they SURE don't want people from downtown coming out to them. There is only one single way to get this type of plan to ...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!
Why is West Bottoms a hub? I'm not getting the hype on the west bottoms. It's starting to gentrify, but it has decades and decades before it's even a real neighborhood and even then it won't really be that big (dense etc) of a neighborhood compared to other parts of downtown. I don't think you will ...

So they say it will have a skyline view? Interesting good to know they are trying to make sure there is some sort of view.normalthings wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 2:32 pm 4 years to approve and build a new stadium. Populous interview

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Maybe Crossroads vs. US, but west bottoms would not be a good look Why not? We had Boulevardia down there. I’d prefer an event there than at Crown Center. Say you have 10,000 fans per country and all wanted to go to their fan fest. You’d need multiple, separate locations. It’s fine and fun as a loc...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
That's kind of my point. KCMO (or even Metro KC) should have some pretty amazing and well thought out ideas to improve the region that have been studied and designed up to a certain point that can be easily dusted off and thrown into more of an implementation phase. KC is a long long way out from e...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I would say the streetcar is a counter argument. Great for what it is but certainly not designed for a boom. We’ve studied 5 extension corridors already, and infill projects are mostly focused along its axis, I’m not saying it’s the MTAs Subway or the Tube, but we’re better planned and built curren...

What? Don't knock Auntie Anne's! Out of all the tenants, I find Lego to be quite interesting. I'm not even sure if I have seen a Lego store in a airport before. But as a major AFOL, I think it's pretty awesome. You're seriously telling me you think Auntie Anne's does good pretzels? I mean not reall...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Now that the WC is over, I think we should see the pace of planning and projects pick up substantially. We would probably want to plan a temporary BRT line to the airport of some kind as well as to the stadiums and that wouldn't take that long to set up. The longest lead time items are definitely t...

Re: Yellow Freight moves headquarters
The region as a whole needs to come together and create a comprehensive plan to maintain, and increase corporate presence in the region. This is getting ridiculous A little too late now. There is hardly anything left in KC as far as big HQs. KCMO spent that last three decades competing with Kansas ...

Re: Sporting Kansas City
I think the "luster" around SKC is doing pretty well, all things considered. They had the terrible year on the field in 2019 which is when attendance started to fade. Then two years heavily impacted by Covid. Last year, they had another bad year, but still averaged 18,365, which is just a...
