UHL hockey coming to Kemper

I just hope we do fill the place for a couple of years so we can get a real team into the Sprint Center and this is not a great level of hockey for a major league city. KC does not follow minor league sports well and the lower the league, the more of a chance it has of failing. I know many NHL fans ...

Why downtown will top the Plaza in 5-10 years

TK, I don't think you realize just how much there really is in the Plaza area, think about it. Even at Downtown's growth rate, will it ever reach the residential population of the Plaza, especially if the Plaza continues to grow as well? Bottom line is when people come to KC they will go to both are...

Bistate - walk the walk?

Que, I totally agree with you. The Wizards would be a smashing success in OP. Why doesn't OP put some effort into building a soccer "complex" that would help fill those hotels? I would rather not see a soccer stadium in a far out burb like Olathe or Shawnee though. There has to be some roo...

Bass Pro will probably go to Indep area, Eastland update...

As someone who works in the traffic engineering field, it would be very interesting to see just how they handle what will be essentially adding another Independence Center to the 470/70 area. Story from Examiner: "Oh, the traffic you'll see" With Bass Pro coming to town, Eastland roads und...

KCK Update

outside the 435 loop I agree, inside the loop it's worse than it ever was....of course this is my opinion. I can't say I agree with you there. I would agree if you said inside the I-635 loop. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't kck just jump over about a thousand acres of land to develop west of 4...

Mission Center Mall or Wal-Mart?

There are so many other things they could do with that mall. That is an awesome, inner suburban area that still has some impressive demographics and very high traffic volumes. It's not like Blue Ridge mall, where the area really has it's back against the wall and should take anything they can to wip...

Why downtown will top the Plaza in 5-10 years

In all seriousness, I think Downtown will complement the Plaza, not "topple" it. They are going to be very different areas and will both anchor the ends of KC's grand urban core. There is just too much going on in the Plaza area for this to really even be a serious thought. It might loose ...

Yes...

Scooterj, very nice, that pic has so much meaning and gives me so much hope that everything will indeed happen in south downtown.

UHL hockey coming to Kemper

I’m actually embarrassed once again in this city. UHL??? At Kemper??? That is a big deal??? If anything, this might only hurt our chances of getting an NHL or even an AHL team. They won’t draw well at Kemper. The suburbanites won’t bring the family down there to see a game except maybe on Sat ...

saturday in the city with chrizow.

Why would you take them to Lions Gate etc. Those are very un-impressive areas to out of towners. Hallbrook has some incredible houses and Cedar Creek is pretty cool though if your into JoCo. Want to impress out of towners? Riss Lake, Briarcliff, Ward Parkway, Mission Hills and Lakewood are my favori...

Wizards leaving KC? Can KC sports go any lower?

The problem isn't with a specific city stepping up to the plate and building a soccer stadium, the problem is with Hunt. He doesn't want to build a Wizards stadium, because then he would: A) either has to pay a lease fee if someone else builds it, or B) cough up his own money to build the stadium.....

Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Ann Taylor Loft in place of FAO Swartz? Ladies? I think this move BLOWS. You have to be kidding me. The plaza is ... well you know what I'm thinking. I'll say it again, the mallization of the plaza will only make the KC Live project more able to lure specialty and destination retail and restaurants...

I would also think that the Paseo lights are temporary since they will shut it down next year to restore and paint it.

Fireworks at Riverfront Park

That's what I was affraid of, they was pretty much the show and the quick aerial show was the finale.

The city only spent 20,000 on a once in a lifetime event fireworks show? I think Lee's Summit spent that much and Blue Springs spent nearly that much.

Whatever.

ORoyals suck'n just as bad as the parent club

KC does tons a "decent" shows all over town and they are fine for what they are. But Downtown or KCMO has never put on a world class show that is any better than the suburbs do. Most suburbs and private shows like after sporting events and worlds of fun out do anything in KCMO like last ye...

Wizards leaving KC? Can KC sports go any lower?

Rumors are all over the internet and press that the Wizards will be moved after this year. Mostly due to KC not having a soccer specific stadium and the attendence and atmosphere that go along with it. I know the Wizards are not a big time team, but come on, KC sports are just barley hanging on here...

Is this an annual event? If so, I think I’ll plan a trip to Omaha next July 4th. I’m dead serious. Great photos!
