Re: IKEA may be coming to Merriam Village

The Bring IKEA to KC Facebook page is attempting to verify a rumor that Merriam residents have received letters stating that IKEA is coming within 2 years. Sounds false to me.

Re: Trees and legal issues

I believe it's your responsibility. It might be covered by your homeowner's insurance. Personally, I would trim them. If a tree branch falls on their roof, their love of shade will take a backseat to getting you to pay for damages. If the trees are growing over power lines, you have an additional re...

Re: Urbanism, architecture, etc.

That guy sounds like a reasonable person with interesting ideas. I think the diverging diamond pictured in the Atlantic is in Springfield. It's ridiculously confusing and every bit as pedestrian unfriendly as he makes it out to be. Westport dodged a bullet when the proposal to put one at SW Trfy and...

Re: Strongtown: Suggestions for KC's downtown streets

Is the lack of activity downtown because of wide, empty streets or are there wide, empty streets because there is a lack of activity downtown? The streets were wide when downtown was booming, and they were wide when downtown hit bottom. So I'm going to say that the streets are empty because of a la...

Is it possible ... ...that you are reading way too much into this? Did they get their man? It looks like they did and maybe the tactics used in this case worked to the PD's advantage Not at all. The next logical question after the police said they sat on the announcement is "are there any othe...

Re: 2012 CHIEFS!

Weirdly, the fact that this is year 4 of people arguing that we can't decide if Cassel's performance is because of mitigating factors like poor playcalling, bad offensive line play, and a lack of good targets, means that Bobbyhawks is right. If ownership/GM can't put together a good enough team in t...

Re: Terrorists planned to bomb Downtown Kansas City!!1!1!1

Reports are that the guy was on the Federal watchlist, which either means that list is ginormous or that it is a pretty serious thing. I can't believe I bit on the terrible reporting of the story. Amazing how freaking wrong people can be and how little you can trust the local news for any informati...

No point now. With @NO, SD, Baltimore, @Tampa coming up, 1-5 or 0-6 are possiblities. The playoffs are not. Might as well wait until January to fire everyone.
