Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS
Just a summary update of the Mission Bowl apartments project. Since my last post above, the proposal has passed through the Planning hearing, Community Development Committee, and full Council with unanimous approval of the Preliminary Development Plan. Finance and Admin now to discuss tax incentive...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
i didn't read the article but my guess is construction will start next year. on their website they've changed the date to a fall 2022 opening. I guess this is good news for oak park mall, it buys them another year to figure out what to do with that big space. CBL had been betting on demolishing qui...

Re: Arby’s in Corinth Closed
Of course. How else would we know that the Arby's in Corinth Square closed because McDonald's owns... something, and that Andy's Frozen Custard prefers opening in Overland Park because of the Waldo Neighborhood of KCMO, but only if it's approved on the first.

Re: College Boulevard Road Diet
It's great to see OP is serious about urbanizing that area. That said, adding parallel parking w/o reducing the speed limit from 45 to at least 35 seems like a bad combo, doesn't it? I imagine that will come, there’s more than enough karens living in OP that’ll complain to the council  I think...

Pier One Imports might close all locations. In Nall Hills Place Mainstay Boutique and Johnson Home and Floor permanently closed. Kneaders Bakery closed but might come back. Pier 1 IS closing all locations. J.Crew/Madewell might be joining them. Gordmans is closing their last metro stores and St. Jo...

https://www.examiner.net/news/20190313/independence-center-changes-hands-again So the mall changed owners again very quietly. The company that was going to buy it decided against it because the mall is too far from their other properties. Now it's owned by the firm that bought up the failing mall in...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I suppose it's possible the Plaza gets dumped for less than what Taubman paid? Would a local outfit be interested? Copaken? Copaken got out of retail ages ago when they started sinking all five of their malls. Three, including Oak Park, were sold to CBL. Leavenworth Plaza and Mission Center were so...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Hopefully Taubman gives up on Plaza and sells to a true urbane mixed use player who can adapt it with mixed residential and more neighborhoody vibe while still inviting to region. Well, you're in luck. Taubman was already in talks to merge with Simon, the company that has dumped such area malls as ...

And their child company Washington prime owns Town Center Plaza and recently defaulted on West Ridge Mall in Topeka and Towne West Square in Wichita. Simon still owns Towne East, which is fairly healthy.longviewmo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:58 pm They also defaulted on Independence Center when they owned it?

The lady at Sarausky who commented on the rumor hinted that Microsoft, Lego, coach, White House Black Market, Abercrombie, Hollister, and lush are looking for a way out. Lush just moved into a new spot that's 3-4x bigger than their previous one fairly recent (2 years ago?). I'd be surprised if they...

Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS
I've never understood why Mission didn't do more to develop their downtown with more residential, there's a lot of missed/wasted opportunity there now. Yeah, as a resident, I'd love nothing more than to see some density development here. The current mayor and a good chunk of the council are certain...
