Re: Three Light

And I think you're also implying that the designated affordable units shouldn't be as nice as the market rate apartments. That's just messed up. Why is lower cost finishes messed up? That's how plenty of affordable units are done. I'd agree that it'd be wrong if there was systemic avoidance of main...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

I was just at the original Joe's last night, country music was blasting out the door. So it's definitely within their brand.

Plus per cityscene, it's a mix of music styles with blues and classic rock thrown in.

Re: Three Light

I would hope they'd choose the Jackson County Jail site and kill two birds with one stone. You could build parking over 670 and it's a short walk to P&L which I'd think would appeal to Cordish.

Yup. Via Tony's KC http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1CM8MIpSPNo/TKxsnHHvwTI/AAAAAAAAEOc/3e3s8EGTqpo/s800/downtownhotelmock.jpg No that's the block to the north, I'm talking about the block just south. Where there's a midcentury midrise and a small parking garage. Right next to 670. I'm pretty sure the site I'...

5 Light has to go on the block bounded by Wyandotte, 14th & Baltimore. Right? That location would allow for a continual front to the new capped loop. If you're funding that B.F.D., you want to max out your views of it. Site is controlled by DST and KCP&L today. Wasn't this mentioned as a po...

Re: Making public transit free

The ONLY other jurisdiction increasing their funding for transit is Johnson County, and that's only because voters authorized a levy increase specifically for that (coupled with parks and libraries). We are doing piecemeal today, why continue trying to grow that when the regional investment is inev...

I think that's unfairly harsh to Lenexa. This would never fly in City Center.

But I gotta say this is probably the ugliest thing being built in all of downtown.

Hopefully there's a plan. That whole block should be leveled and redeveloped as something more dense.

Re: Proctor & Gamble will close KCK plant

How can you see a Lumber Yard because all I see is something in back parking lot that doesn't look the size of Menards Lumber Yard. We need a Kmart replacement and Shopko and Meijer would do it and are good so it's Albertsons that would do good in Johnson County or KCK. Supermarkets don't have auxi...

https://cityscenekc.com/east-crossroads-development/ Milhaus is loooking at 300 apts and 10,000 sf of retail. Smaller than their Gallerie project in CC. While I think this is still a positive step, it's a shame they're not setting aside a larger amount of retail space. The lots total about 240,000 s...

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Every public garage has a big blue P. I see one on the east end of the Kauffman Center garage and the SW corner. How do I know this is there from the I-35 exit to Broadway so I know it there? How does the big B at 17th and Broadway tell me to go north on Wyandotte to park? What if I turned at 16th ...

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Parking signage needs to be large and uniform across privately owned and city owned lots. if it's not both, it's not going to help.

It seems like it'd be easy enough to mimic Chicago with signs like these, across publicly available lots.
