Re: Main Street (MainCor) Streetscape
I've found the hardest thing in life is realizing when to pass the torch and celebrate the renewed ideas of a younger generation. The torch is passed only when one dies. Just because a younger generation has different ideas doesn't mean they are better, or worse. Just different. And much like the y...

Re: Main Street (MainCor) Streetscape
I take my comment back. In the 1980's, Kansas City was falling apart, with midtown becoming the home of crack cocaine, prostitutes, decaying buildings and general filth. I'd rather be a crotchety ol bitch than a sellout runaway. At least she stayed when others ran away from the problems. But, maybe ...

Why that woman is quoted for anything is beyond me. Crotchety old bitteresses should be ignored.KC-wildcat wrote: Gotta love Stackhouse's comments about the project being way overdone with "too many baubles and trinkets to maintain."

That's a good comparison. Would you today spend 13M for the next 20? years ($260M total) for the sales tax and property tax revenue for 80 years of the Plaza?

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
With regards to the P&L District if the revenue shortfall was in the range of $1 to $3 million I believe most couldn't care less. But when the project calls for a subsidy of $13+ million, year-after-year, and the revenues generated only cover about 1/3 of the bond cost then that raises all kind...

Re: Open Fire Wood Burning Pizza - 3950 Broadway
I went the first or second night. The place is HUGE! in a bad way. They need to find a way to break up the space because it feels so empty even when there were people in there. They could have turned the building into two seperate restaurants and it still would feel large. Also, it's a little weird ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Basically, KC, I'm just saying: you could do so much better. If the people who founded New York would have had this defeatist attitude, they'd be left holding a bunch of beads and Manhattan would be a giant casino. Our leaders took a chance and should be supported for trying to make the city better...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
Very few investments make money in the short term (and that's still where we are with P&L). If you want to make cars or computers or open a restaurant you have to spend money up front to, hopefully make it back and more in the long run. Union Station lost money up front, is making it back now a...

The same thing was said about Union Station. "What a waste of money!" "Look how much that thing costs." " KC government is inept." And look at it now. It's making money and is a definite asset for the city. The same thing will happen with P&L.

^^ Your spouse lies to you over and over again continuing to cheat for 25 years. You find a phone number in her purse and even though it's the number for the vet you still assume she is a lying again. Maybe, the Royals have changed their ways and are a better team this year, but they are paying for ...

Tony was so right about the Savoy Grill, most beautiful room in the city but the menu is ridiculous. Someone needs to bring the food, service and table decor into this century.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Frenchy is 4th based on the 2011 OBP of current starters. Above him are Gordon (#1), Butler (#2), and Hosmer (#3). So, unless you are going to leadoff with one of those guys, Frenchy is the best option by OBP. I'm not a huge fan of Frenchy as a player, but if you are playing Dyson, I don't think yo...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I were starting the same players, my lineup would be Frenchy, Gordon, Butler, Hosmer, Moustakas, Quintero, Yuni, Escobar, Dyson. But, Frenchy has a terrible on base percentage/walk rate. Personally, I hate having Dyson on the team for anything other than a pitch runner. Put, Mitch Maier in there...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! TH
Is there a reason why the Big 12 hasn't invited Louisville? I would guess the goal with adding Louisville would be to try and get back to 12 for a conference championship game. Perhaps, they don't have another team they feel confortable along with Louisville to get to that point. Who would be the 1...
