Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article158923999.html Petitioners questioning the hotel wanted an election in November. But the council, on its own, repealed a hotel zoning and development agreement ordinance that it had approved in April, negating the need for an election. The co...

Re: Vote Yes or No? A Discussion on the Pros and Cons of Chastain's Plan

I'm still a fan of the gondolas. The idea of going over something to bridge a gap is valid. It's why the city is talking about a streetcar to the riverfront, because it's bridging a gap that's hard to walk. Imagine money was no issue and we need to find a way to connect Crown Center better to Penn ...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Is it likely that Kansas City (and it's metro) will ever grow to become the size of Denver or Seattle? Will KC grow to the population of what Denver or Seattle have currently, or will KC actually catch up to them in real time? Denver metro has 2.8M, and Seattle has 3.8M, while KC is around 2.1M (de...

Re: Northland Population Growth

I should have mentioned that 90% of BV seniors voluntarily sat for the ACT in 2016. You were asking about perception so I'm trying to answer you from the viewpoint of a parent that was totally new to the metro as of ~3 years ago. We heard plenty of good stuff about Park Hill, but nothing really abou...

Re: Northland Population Growth

There's a growing awareness of the quality schools in the Northland. I just wonder at what point does it become metrowide acclaim and the Northland is viewed as a legitimate rival/alternative to Johnson County? It's mostly about results, and around here the best metric is probably outgoing composit...

Found this on reddit. You'll have to zoom in, but it gives a different angle to the two light progress... Edit: I said zoom in, but that doesn't really make sense. Here's the link to the original image which gives you an option to view it full size... https://i.redd.it/4dysp954pfry.jpg https://i.red...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

Looks like it made it to the print version of the NY Times. Somebody on reddit was claiming it was definitely paid for by Visit KC and questioned whether the writer ever stepped foot in KC, but I have no real info on that. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/17626338_10155069167904827_77297009790...

Re: City Place (College and US 69)

I live there. The main building is the only one that's occupied and it looks to be safe. If the cold front hadn't just come through and changed the wind direction our apartment would be gone. Feel terrible for the neighbors to the south though.
