Zona Rosa A city unto itself to open WED. Looks great!!!!
Zona Rosa has a code of conduct... It should also have pedestrian etiquette and driving lessons posted as well! I guess KC drivers aren't used to driving with people around and people aren't used to sharing the sidewalk with other pedestrians!

Best Chinese?
Bo Ling's is one of the few places where I see Chinese people go and eat Chinese food. You will never see Chinese people eat at PF Changs! Bo Ling's also has dim sum on Saturday and Sunday.

The Future of Downtown: The Yuppie Issue
The facts is these "creative" people will be just fine regardless if we concentrate our effort to fill our cities with dance clubs, high-end lofts, and Starbucks for them to enjoy. I consider myself to be in the "creative class" and I don't go to dance clubs, I can't afford a hi...

Zona Rosa (request)
The use of different facades is what gives it the small town appeal. It breaks up the tautology that strip malls have. A strip mall is a long building with the same boring facade style the whole way through.

Zona Rosa A city unto itself to open WED. Looks great!!!!
I went to the grand opening... and its a very nice day... the sun is shining and just a tiny breeze. The mayor even said something about it. I did take some pix, they are posted in photo section.

Zona Rosa (request)
I only live five minutes south of Zona Rosa, so I got these pix quickly. I did forget to check how much the parking meters cost. There is a parking garage and surface parking around the perimeter. For some reason it felt like one of those Las Vegas malls (Caesars Forum, Venetian Shops), only it h...

NBA, NHL team names
I know its EXTREMELY premature to start thinking of Kansas City team names, but if we ever get back an NBA or NHL franchise, what would you like them to be named?

Who should design the new arena?
I don't have any info about the"proceeds to charity" part so you got to explain that to me. As for the form and function of a building, Gehry is no slouch. He didn't win the Pritzker Prize for being a bad architect, which is equivelant to a Nobel Prize for Architecture. Look at the plans f...

FIRST FRIDAY TOMORROW - Don't forget
Just my opinion, but you know what irks me more than mallrats, poeple who use small dogs as an accessory. Its an animal not a bracelet!!!!!! Anyways, it was my first time at a first friday and I enjoyed it a lot. Im in the architecture/design field so I love it when people are interested in art.

Who should design the new arena?
The local firms are GREAT in designing sports facilities, but are they iconic? No. This is what Gehry is known for. If HOK designed and built this arena, we would be just another city with an HOK SPORT building, great facilities, great design. Tourist would come, take pictures and see a game played....

Who should design the new arena?
It would be nice to have this Dream Team design the arena, but to tell you the truth, they don't have the name power as Frank Gehry. HOK, Ellerbe Beckett, CDFM2 are good firms with studios in KC, but they aren't really known for their iconic designs. With Gehry, all you have to say is Guggenheim, Fr...

Who should design the new arena?
I voted for Gehry. Im not really a fan of his titanium cladded buildings, but they do put the city they're located in on the map. Look at Bilbao, Spain. He is already designing a titanium cladded arena for the Brooklyn Nets anyways. Instead, I'd like to see Gehry design a Kansas City Arena reminisce...

Architectural Program at UMKC?
I was in the Architecture program at UMKC. You only spend two years there and then you transfer to KSU, one year if you decided to go into Landscape Architecture. Its a five year program. You also have a second option and stay there at UMKC for a four year program in Urban Planning and Design. This ...
