Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I didn’t respond to him because the dude is basically a major concern troll who pops in once a month, shits on KC all over the place, and then leaves for another month. But if we’re actually gonna dignify his response… Of the course the new streetcar stop helps. For starters, it’s gonna increase th...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Anyone know what's happening at the Time West Building? Victoria's Secret closed, Bath & Body Works relocated, a construction.com filing shows Express is up to something, and Compass KC shows plans for shell improvements to the building. It's a ton of square footage. My guess is axe throwing, p...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Hahaha. The Plaza just needs a cheap Axe Throwing joint and a Payday Loans and the transformation to Metcalf South will be complete. Walked it this past weekend and it's downright depressing.

The new logo is unremarkably banal just like the architecture of the airport. It's perfect.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I haven’t been following progress of this project too closely but a couple things…the water sculpture by Leo Villareal, Fountain (KCI) is pretty cool. It’s too bad it’s not more of a focal point like the water feature at Terminal B in LaGuardia but it’s decent. Also assuming we will have a Delta lou...

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
Walked the Legends shopping district for the first time in quite a while and was shocked at how much the property on the whole has deteriorated. Trash everywhere and overall condition is in some pretty rough shape. Hopefully, they have some capital improvements dollars socked away because it needs a...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
World Cup will easily be handled by special rapid bus for the event. The bus system is a complete joke and will never be an adequate solution. You’re never going to accommodate the need with Uber and busses. Never. There’s no density along the light rail spine in Denver and it works extremely well.

What would it take to get light rail from the new terminal to downtown in the next four years? We need it.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
A wonderful article by opinon writer Conor Sen at Bloomberg: He says that KC may become the next boom-town given its relatively low housing costs and it's cache growing with this WC2026 announcement. He likens it to Atlanta winning the 1996 Olympics and catalyzing them the next decades after. "...

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2022/04/12/nordstrom-country-club-plaza-retail-oak-park-mall.html Looks like it's official now. It’s still mind blowing that the parking structure and that building were demolished without a concrete plan in place. What a total joke. And now a gravel park...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Good article, aside from the fact that it’s about 10 years too late. As empty storefronts increase, is the Country Club Plaza losing its appeal? About two dozen empty storefronts line the Country Club Plaza. Recent losses include such big-name brands as Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Brighton Collecti...

Just to make sure we don’t get too ahead of ourselves here…the Nordstrom hasn’t actually pulled the plug yet right? I heard the same rumor around Thanksgiving. If 2023 is the target for opening, they would need to be started on construction very soon I would think so we will find out soon enough. A...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I think the freak out over this potential Target “taking away from Downtown” is unfounded. You could still get another, smaller Target Downtown regardless if the Plaza one happens. KC is growing and can support more retail, big and small. Simply saying a Target needs to be blocked for a host of pos...

I don’t know if this is public knowledge yet, but it appears the Nordstrom deal has has fallen through. Supposedly, Simon is in talks with Target. (I’m not joking)

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Any more notable Plaza move-outs to mention? Was doing a little Holiday shopping this past weekend and it’s shocking how little actual decent retail left there is on the Plaza.
