Re: living at Zona Rosa

.  If Lenexa ever builds a "urbanism" type center, I hope they model it after ZonaRosa.  btw. chicks dig that forever21 place.    The lenexa project should actually have a very diffeent feel if it ever gets done.  It should be far more mixed use than ZR with substantially more residen...

Re: Johnny Dare opening a bar/restaurant?

Are they going to take down the giant chrome naked ladies soon?  I hate to think of  out of towner's continuing to get confused thinking they have stumbled into the topless bar district.

^ yes and no depending on the state.  However, doctors and nurses are trained professionals who in theory know what they are doing and thus the law is likely going to distinguish them from joe blow who stops to help out.

The event was a tea dance.

There is another cable series (I can't remember which channel) on engineering disadters that has an episode they run from time to time with a long segment on the Hyatt.

Why didn't on of Plaza Security just put her in the back seat and just drive her there? Insurance No private business is ever likely to authorize their employees to transport someone to the hospital.  You will get your ass sued off.  I once saw an ambulance respond to a business literally accross t...

Re: How Do We Bring People to the Crossroads On non First Fridays?

Personally I think the xroads market is a good idea.  It helps reinforce the neighborhood as a residential area.  I don't think it is likely to take anything away from the city market either.  The neighborhood folks that will regularly pick up produce here midweek are pretty sure bets to also drop b...

Re: How Do We Bring People to the Crossroads On non First Fridays?

I was driving by today and noticed there's some kind of outdoor mini farmer's market (?) at 18th and Wyandotte.  I guess it happens every Wednesday.  Anywho i thought this was cool, and it looked like it had a nice amount of people milling around. The market that you saw is indeed the newish week...

Re: Pendleton Heights

Personnally I think the West Bottoms have a heck of a lot better chance for success as the next breakthrough neighborhood than the Northeast.  As the central core continues to gentrify the cost of living is going to continue to skyrocket in places like the loop, crossroads, and rivermarket (we are ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction

The acoustics in a big rectangular room like the music hall will never be ideal no matter what you do.  The shape just does not lend itself to sound.  That said, these big commercial broadway shows everyone is all excited about all use super loud amped sound anyways these days so who cares about the...

Just how many northland hotels are there that don't have a nice view of the city financed airport?  Outside of the casinos and a handful outside Liberty I can't think of many.

Re: River Market crime stats?

12 crimes over one year?  That's a lot lower than Midtown or most areas of the city.  Some of those giant aparment complexes in Joco probably have almost that much crime in a year. not twelve crimes - twelve armed robberies.  You would be hard pressed to find any JoCo complexes that had a single ...

Re: feature story in the Pitch about the tax abatement menace.

I always thought the Pitch did a pretty good job at being what it is - an entertainment guide that throws in the occasional interesting bit of alternative news.  Its not as if they are striving to compete with the Star and be a primary news outlet.  I pick up the Pitch first and foremost to find out...

Of course I am also always amazed about how many folks in general there are who have no clue what is going on around them at any given time.  I would be willing to bet there were some folks up North who had no idea Zona Rosa was going in until it opened its doors; just as I am sure there are plenty ...

i like how the JoCo couple quoted in the article said that their neighbors are totally clueless about not only FF, but the Crossroads district in general.    I am always fascinated by this dichotomy in the burbs.  It seems like about half the people genuinely enjoy being near a big city an...

Wow, whoda thunk the station administration would have their sh*t this together -

1) extraordinarily professional and extensive P.R response; and

2) forward thinking attraction/event planning.

All in the same day.  There may be hope yet.
