Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

There will ALWAYS be people who want to live in the suburbs even if it's not for many of us. At least developments like Lenexa City Center are providing some denser mixed-use pedestrian-oriented development instead of what's going on at the old Sprint campus. Why shit all over something like this w...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I wonder if the continued security issues at the Plaza are giving any pause to the Dallas firm that is buying the shopping center? It's a pretty big issue as it impacts the public's confidence in their own security and hence patronage. Especially at night. They have to be wondering how they can con...

Didn't they make an offer and he countered with an offer significantly above market?

I seem to recall them calling his bluff

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Goes to show how bad the campaign was. Why not say: We expect this tax to generate 500m. We will look to the city for 350m. We will look to the state for 350m. And we, the royals will put over 500m into the project. Obviously using clay county info there but same applies to KC. Share info like the ...

There does seem to be continued progress, but I remain concerned about the historic piece of the project. Fitting a swimming pool and roof deck up there is no small feat and there is limited reinforcement. At least at this point

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Just got a survey from Jackson County on why I voted yes or no. All the questions were about the Royals. Personally thought the Chiefs proposal was just as bad for the same reasons. Ambiguity on how the tax money was specifically being spent. It frustrates me how Sherman and the Royals became the b...

Was wondering when this news would get out. It's been an open secret among folks in my inner circle since early February. She should be good for AT LEAST one new luxury condo tower (our first) in this city. Give her the top two floor penthouse and sell everything else for $Ms. Probably would be mor...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Thankfully, I doubt John Sherman even knows who they are and people on this board are insanely overstating their contribution to this election. The teams royally screwed this up. Best you can give credit to KC Tenants is that the teams made decisions that specifically fed into their narrative (thro...

I'm not sure if I understand. The City Council, including Bunch, approved the KCPD funding as part of the 2024-2025 fiscal budget.

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

Speaking of Lenexa, I had to spend some time there a couple days ago. It is wild the amount of development and cranes out there.

The development process in KCMO is broken and people in the city need to wake up to just how much money is going out to JoCo greenfield development.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Clay and Platte combined are half the size of Jackson. A Royals only tax would only need to be half the amount since the Chiefs are not involved. So the same 3/8 tax should raise about the same amount for the Royals. However, I think they can do it with state only money in the NKC site. It will be ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I feel so disconnected from the comments I'm reading here. The general consensus among people in my life was that this was a disastrous campaign. It was late and felt rushed on the royals side. They didn't get community buy in ahead of time, and the behind the scene machinations left questions. It ...
