Gutted apartment building ... WTF?
It definitely leaves a negative image for tourists and business travelers to see that building gutted and empty. KC, do you have a pic of what the building originally looked like? I've lived in KC for about 6 years, but I can't recall what it looked like prior to being gutted....just wondering. I t...

Is the Kansas board dead?
When ya'll are talking about Joco you need to realize there is a big difference between northeast joco and the southern and western fringes of the county. Many of the people in the northeast section came from KCMO and still support the central city even if they don't live there. They are likely to w...

Re: kcscout.net
As usual, Kdot goes the extra mile while Modot does the bare minimal to get by. I guess it's not that bad, but would have been nice if Modot put up nice, large structures like Kdot is doing What is the advantage of the trusses that go all the way over the highway? In my opinion the smaller ones loo...

Will Lee's Summit be the next Overland Park?
I am mostly disappointed they are ignoring 435 near WOF because that gets congested a lot, especially on busy WOF days or Chiefs games. It's not being ignored, it's just not in the first phase. KC Scout is gonna be a big system, and it can't built all at once. http://kdot1.ksdot.org/public/kdot/kcm...

...rather than the crap the new residents learn in JoCo, (how bad KCMO is, keep you money in KS etc etc.) I was never taught this nugget of wisdom. I heard it from you, just now, for the first time. Why is that? People new to the area are routinely steered to JoCo by real estate agents or relocatio...

Inbound backups usually don't go more than a mile or two north of the bridges, and those areas are covered by the cameras. The first phase is focusing on the areas with the most congestion.
The Northland is not being neglected, it just doesn't have the congestion yet that other areas have.

Site detailing San Fran retail neighborhoods
We do have a pretty good number of neighborhood shopping areas for a low-density metro of 2 million. In addition Brookside there is River Market, West 39th Street, Southwest Boulevard, Crossroads, Westport, and Waldo. And beyond the city there is also Northtown, Parkville, Weston, Liberty Square, Ma...

The Broadway "beautification" project.
I remember reading somewhere that once they started on the project they found something wrong, might have been asbestos or lead-based paint or something, and that it delayed the whole repainting project by a year or so. I believe it was orginally supposed to have been finished by now.

Eastern Jackson County's biggest problem???
a big problem is that there are few arterial streets other than the highways. 39th Street is only 4 lanes between LS Road and Little Blue, it needs to be four lanes all the way from I-435 to 7 Hwy. And some of the new development needs to be distributed to the other arterial roads like 23rd St. or 4...

Northland a big part in making KCMO a very large city soon.
Unfortunately we are about the lose the opportunity to shape the growth of the Northland into something better the typical sprawl that already exists south of the river. While the projects like Shoal Creek Valley, Zona Rosa, and Renaissance North are great mixed-used/new urbanist projects - for ever...

New I-70 for Jackson County???
Those I-70 studies are pie in the sky right now, they basically show the best-case scenarios if MoDOT had any money to build them. Until we allocate more transportation money nothing is getting built. In other words, it's gonna take a tax increase to do anything. We are already near the bottom of al...

My humble opinions of KC vs. STL
1. The character of the city: STL is definitely an eastern city, while KC is much more western-oriented. 2. The people: People who migrated to Kansas City seem to have been farmers from the throughout the midwest. St. Louis got a lot of the hillbillies from who came up I-44 from the Ozarks, the Boot...
