Re: Verizon gets the iPhone...
Some rumors are saying it will be the first WiMax tablet or maybe the first CDMA Windows Phone 7 phone.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I don't ever want to become cynical about the impact that I can have as a business owner because I do try to make a difference, but what, in your opinion, would be the most effective way for us as a group get this point across? Frequent and consistent communication with your City Council members l...

Re: Shovel your whole sidewalk; not just your doorstep.
Ordinance #100741 includes a proposal to specify 48 hours as the deadline for clearing the sidewalk. Unfortunately this ordinance has been stuck in the T&I Committee since September.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
the greater downtown area was the only place the 2008 light rail plan passed. Plus, this is the area where it would be easiest to get a TDD or TIF to pay for the first streetcar segment. Highwoods isn't going to be happy about another tax on the Plaza until they see a successful demonstration Down...

Re: Verizon gets the iPhone...
No. Apple is only doing this one CDMA phone because they can no longer wait on LTE before bringing Verizon. Going forward, the iPhone will eventually be all LTE. The only Sprint gets the iPhone is to switch to LTE.jdubwaldo wrote: Any chance in hell of Sprint picking up with iPhone?

Re: High Speed Rail
Looks like this report is mostly geared toward 200 mph HSR. Since the KC-STL line will never be more than 100 mph without entirely new ROW, it kinda makes sense it ranks low. kcjack, KC-CHI will continue to be a long distance route on the Southwest Chief, but all efforts for HSR are focused on Chic...

Huh??? The North Hall has been used for exhibits many, many times.FangKC wrote: I've always thought the North Hall was a wasted space. It reminds me of a big mausoleum at times. I would like to see it become an exhibit hall of some type--like statuary art for example.

Gillham Park in Midtown and Water Works Park on North Oak are also quite good. Westwood Park in the West Plaza is good if you want to sled and imbibe.

Let's all be honest with ourselves for a minute. When Kansas Citians talk about "good" schools or "bad" schools we are really talking about white schools and black schools.

Re: Holy Name Church
It's an old Christian Science Church. I think it closed. Since it's currently zoned as a church it could be used as a church again. Or since it's in a residential area it could easily be rezoned to residential.

Re: The KCMO School District
I don't disagree with this post at all. But don't you think if your KC address isn't tied to the KCMO School district, this would have a dramatic effect on the appeal of Kansas City neighborhoods as an attractive place to live for families? To paraphrase GRID, if Kansas City residents could attend ...

Re: The KCMO School District
KC is one of the biggest charter school experiments in the country. Something like 30% or more of public school kids in the KCMSD are in charter schools. So far that data indicates that most charter schools are not doing any better than district schools. For all the drama with the school district,...

Re: The KCMO School District
On the Republican agenda in the Missouri legislature this session are proposals to allow for open enrollment for school districts deemed "failing", made possible by a MO Supreme Court ruling last fall. This would apply I guess only to the unaccredited St. Louis school district, but if imp...

This is why we vowed to ditch TWC as soon as we moved out of Roeland Park. We had the bundle, And internet and TV outages were a regular feature. The customer service was singularly unpleasant and difficult to deal with. Odd. TWC Internet is great in Midtown. I rarely have an outage, and when ...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants
Kinda funny that even the cheap version of blanc was too much for Lee's Summit. The city definitely has a big contingent of upscale suburbanites, but enough. I bet if blanc/b:2 was already a nationally known chain restaurant it would have thrived there. I also have the impression that blanc has a ...

Re: Downtown (Latteland) Not Ready For Crowds?
Yes we want people downtown. Its not really complaints but rather understanding from businesses that we are down here everyday.....open up and give us a chance....don't simply just cater to a 3 day kid convention. That includes keeping isles clear so I can shop. I don't think that's too much to ask...
