Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Soiree is definitely the "I'm expensing this meal" restaurant option at the new terminal; the food hall prices look to be in line with prices at the non-airport locations of those restaurants. The Points Guy review of the new terminal had this blurb: Kansas City is using street-based prici...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

Devoured Pizza is planning on opening a physical location (and is doing a round of fundraising on Mainvest).

While the listing just mentions "Martini Corner", one of the photos was clearly taken from inside the empty bay between the Made in KC store/cafe and Ludo's Shuffleboard.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Tuesday night was still a free-for-all in the arrivals area. We had a friend coming to pick us up; he did a couple laps through the arrivals area before going to the cell phone lot while he waited for us to get our bags (which wound up being nearly an hour). When he came back to pick us up, he notic...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

I flew in just after KCP did, and don't have much to add, except that our experience with the baggage claim didn't go as smoothly. Both the United app and the baggage claim boards in the airport said the bags from our flight would be at carousel 4 (even though the board *also* said that United uses ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Having at least one dedicated TSA Pre line is effectively a precondition for Clear to set up shop in the first place, so it's pretty safe to say they'll be over at the right (north) side of the security screening area.

Re: Short Term Rentals

There should be a ballot question in April around taxation of STRs; while the exact verbiage isn't set yet, the intent for the tax rate to be a similar rate as hotel rooms This wound up being Questions 2 and 3 on the April ballot . Question 2: Shall the City of Kansas City impose a Transient Boardi...

Congrats!

If you haven’t already, email the Union Hill Neighborhood Association board with whatever detail you can share at this time and/or to set up some time to meet with them.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

The 2024 Copa América (South America's national team tournament) will take place in the United States . While it'd be nice to see KC host some games (as this is a effectively a test run for the World Cup), as it's a 16-team tournament, not all the venues/host cities for the World Cup would be used f...

Re: Short Term Rentals

A "yes" to more funding for enforcement as part of some/all of these changes was implied, but wasn't outright stated. (Also, while we had a one-page handout about the two licensed properties and one unlicensed property in Union Hill, the Southmoreland neighborhood has been compiling dossie...

Re: Short Term Rentals

This was a topic of discussion at the Union Hill neighborhood association meeting; Eric Bunch stopped by to discuss a number of items, but this took up the majority of his time. - There should be a ballot question in April around taxation of STRs; while the exact verbiage isn't set yet, the intent f...

Nope - the USO lounge is landside (arrivals level, by the baggage claim) while the space for a second lounge is airside near the American gates.

Signed up for an 11 AM slot. As luck would have it, we have a family event to go to the following week...and we're flying back on the 28th. If nothing else, I guess I'll get the hands-on experience for what's in/around the baggage claim area prior needing everyone's thoughts and prayers that the bag...

Has anyone heard anything about volunteer opportunities/signups for stress-testing the new terminal? I'd have to imagine we're very close to the point where they'd want to start testing various aspects of the new terminal.

Restaurant updates were mentioned at last month's UHNA meeting: - the former Bond's Chicken space at 334 E 31st will be an Asian small plates concept and is part of the The Russell/Tailleur/Cheval restaurant group. - Sol Cantina will reopen as "Barrio" once renovations are complete. - a le...

I’ve yet to walk past a Clear checkpoint anywhere that was noticeably shorter than the TSA Pre line, but there must be enough suckers airports that also sometimes have congested TSA Pre lines to explain the company’s continued existence.

TBH, the only thing that's different between Omaha and KC is that Omaha's downtown bank/bank-like companies want vanity towers and KC's equivalents...do not.
