Same one's that have been for decades. I can't think of the last time I read about a gun death using a legally purchased gun to be honest. I love the fact they went after those who sold the guns illegally. We need much more of that!

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Not saying the traffic concerns aren't valid but this is a fairly simple thing to manage. It will cost the event hosts money, but that's the price of putting games and events downtown. Police will man certain exits that will funnel incoming traffic to the specific event they're going to. Outbound tr...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

This is personal. This isn’t an attempt to change votes. I’m only being realistic and at some point you have to trust the people who actually make these things come to life. I don’t disagree that more details about the CBA would be nice but where I disagree is that we need more details or commitmen...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Dcole - again you are trying to discount/dismiss these concerns and give reasons people should have different opinions of these topics. That isn't going to switch no votes to yes or convince any undecided voter. What these entities need to be doing is showing more to fill in the gaps and show why/h...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

"look a lot of entities are involved, just trust them" is not a great argument for a yes vote. Especially when that's all there really is at this point. And none of those entities have downtown KC or good urban planning as their primary priority. For many, they're not priorities at all. T...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Actually let's break this down further: city LOL. Too many examples of poor management to take the time to list here. If you trust the city to do 100% competent work then I'm not sure what city you're living in. state The same state that doesn't trust us to run our police department (or gun laws or...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I’d love to hear some examples of why we shouldn’t trust so many interested parties on these projects. We have the city, state, feds, private donors, Sherman, Cordish, Loews and the MLB all involved here. "They didn’t talk to anyone and tried to go at it all alone and finally did talk to peopl...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don't understand why some people think we need to have high levels of detail on something that we have years to figure out. I also don't understand why people assume these things are put together by idiots who won't take all of this into consideration. Like why would the city support anything tha...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I’ve soured on the area throughout this process and I don’t feel welcome any longer in the crossroads. I’m apparently not who they want as a customer. I’ve spent more time spending money there over the last 15 years than anywhere else in the city. This prob belongs in the xr thread but where are yo...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

How much art is actually occuring in east crossroads? I feel like it’s more of a bar and restaurant district than much of a gallery district tbh. Which is fine, but then they shouldn’t be acting like the ballpark is going to nuke a bunch of galleries when it’s a mile away There is more to an arts d...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

This is what I’ve been saying all along! Even if a stadium doesn’t happen, this section of crossroads will be bought up slowly overtime and transformed into something far more modern. The Calverts lot is just the beginning. So “saving the crossroads” is more like “delaying the inevitable”. The Cros...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

How ironic that even if the stadium doesn't get built in the Xroads there will still be continued development in the area like freeway cap and additional population from 18th/Vine, Parade Park, 4L, Midland, Calvert's Lot, etc. that will eventually price many of those businesses out of the East Cros...

Big 12 conference to make a big announcement today! Extending to 2031? Star ran an article on the discussions. By 2031, it will be time to start thinking major renovation. Yes and bringing another sports tournament to KC. To follow up on this tease from 5 months back: Announced that the Big 12 wome...

Re: T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center)

What was the big announcement yesterday? All I saw was that there would be a 20 game conference schedule for men's bball (yawn). The extension of the contract with T-Mobile until 2031 is still unfinalized. Side note: the women's bball conference tourney games will be moving to T-Mobile from Municpa...

Why don’t they just buy everything to the east up to Charlotte and offer up space over there for displaced businesses. Would be doing everyone a favor.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Crossroads will never be gaslamp no matter a baseball stadium. The problem with crossroads is it's too spread thin and no focus of activity. 18th and oak is the only real example of a focus of activity. Exactly why the crossroads as a whole can continue it’s thing and hopefully this area with the s...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don't think the Royals meant harm, they are probably just detached from the community. I get what you area saying, but hopefully the team and those against the stadium can come together and find common ground. That does not seem to be happening though? I don't either. They listened to some bad ad...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Also anecdotal, it’s 3:30 on a Sunday and Casual Animal is full but not feeling busy. Every seat has a butt but no line at the bar. I should add I don’t think this is a comicon or basketball oriented crowd. My concern: it’s not the stadium footprint itself. I think losing Oak would be a mistake but...
