Re: Is KC Tenants destroying the development future of downtown KCMO?
I don't think this attitude is helpful either. They're concerned with housing vulnerable people in KC, and that's admirable. It's just their methods and rhetoric that are tiresome and questionable. Mine's not an attitude, it's an opinion. These worthless shitheads have never housed or fed a single ...

Noticing a lot of new posters in these discussions.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 7:52 am I’m shocked a forum that’s ostensibly dedicated to urban KC could produce some of the anti-urban crap I’m reading on here

Seems like we should worry about the retail there.

Re: Capping the Loop
The bananas thing is that the editorial calls for capping the loop to the east to spur redevelopment. But given the Star's recent editorials, it's likely they would oppose that redevelopment as gentrification.

Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment
Then just undo the cluster at the bottom of the 12th street bridge. And reinforce the Beardsley connection.
Fixing the intersection of Chavez and SW Blvd would be useful also.

Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment
Wouldn't it be easier to clean up the connection to Chavez and have that be the main WB access point, rather than a gondola? Not totally sold that the main WB access has to be directly to the core.

From a couple experiences in downtown, it isn't uncommon for the city to not know exact underground utility locations.

Re: Troost developments
Misread that as the SW corner. It would be great if UCB could get that project off the ground. You'll remember that at one point they had an option on the SE corner, pending the successful completion of the SW corner. They were pretty far along on the design of the SW corner before deciding that the...

Re: Troost developments
UC-B Properties, a significant developer on Troost Avenue, is pursuing a 90- to 100-unit apartment project at the southeast corner of Linwood and Troost. Developer John Hoffman said would like to break ground on the proposed Troostwood development by summer. Hoffman said the project will include a ...

Re: Capping the Loop
They say that the Kansas City live block sits empty except for a few big things a year? Lol That was the part of the article I cringed at the most. Acting like outside of the Super Bowl & World Cup, it's just empty. They're trying to hard to over-compensate & paint a narrative that isn't tr...

Re: Capping the Loop
Imagine how annoyed they'll be when they're always sitting in traffic to get from the crossroads to downtown. The park is great, but it's secondary to getting people into/out of DT. I guess I would say I’m just really surprised on this particular forum there’s more concern about cars & traffic ...

The park is great, but it's secondary to getting people into/out of DT. Should be easy to program a park with the streets cutting through.

Re: Capping the Loop
Westport is a great example of how gradual street closures can result in a permanent cluster. On a basic level, what happens if Walnut is vacated and there is road construction on Oak or Main? We're reducing flexibility/redundancy for no good reason.

Yes. I've run into them on projects over near the Blue River/Manchester... which is AFAIK near no airports. Their application process is impossible.

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
Believe that the owner's permission is needed to list the property.
There may be a development in the works, but "it would be surprising is X parcel sat vacant" is a familiar prelude to nothing. It's impossible to take developers seriously.
