Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
nobody on this forum will ever admit KC ever made anything great, but they will go on and on if something was bad. I submit the above as exhibit A in support of my thesis that: people just make shit up and get outraged about the reality that conforms to their biases instead of the reality that exis...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Yeah, when there's insufficient stuff to be outraged about, people just make shit up and get outraged about the reality that conforms to their biases instead of the reality that exists. It's been going on forever, but holy shit does the internet amplify that madness by about 10000000x (thanks social...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
This should hopefully have alleviated at least some of the traffic nonsense at arrivals though, yeah? And now the Star can report about how inadequate our new garage is and how the old terminal garages never filled up (ignoring that B was always full). Sigh.

Re: Boring Company tech to help untangle highway mess
The limestone layers, both the Winterset and the Bethany Falls groups, are thick, sturdy, and level. They would be the best candidates for deep tunnel boring through KC. However, midtown and downtown represent significant plateaux, requiring any north-south route that would pass under the east-west...

If you can't drum up actual support, just browbeat the masses until they are resigned to its inevitability because they don't have the means or will to stop it? Sounds good to me.

Re: Politics
I'm not sure I'd call it huge, but it's definitely there, and I think to some degree it can be traced back to angst related to the earlier discussion about the EU powers appearing to be complacent about their own defense needs and seeming to be content to let us pay for it, and a far right sense of ...

Re: Hot Rocks Pizza
I find the sweetness of the sauce is balanced, for my taste anyway, by its spiciness. Not that its particularly hot, but it's just got some vague, left-on-the-tongue, am-I-even-tasting-this type of heat to it that builds up as you keep eating slice after slice, like there's just enough cayenne that ...

I was wondering the same thing and went back to look (I guess he left during a time I was myself on hiatus due to being completely burnt out, it comes in waves) and (I am not a psychologist, but) it appears to me as though when his "we can do anything! we are the best! we just have to believe!&...

I think we likely do want to extend rail transit at some point.
I am less sure it makes a lot of sense to give any consideration to the airport or stadium(s) when planning said extensions.

The strip is where people go, but it's about as far from "downtown" (aesthetically) as a place can be, unless you're talking about Dubai or something.

I totally agree, and I would hope like hell that in the face of what Russia is doing in Ukraine that they take the threat on their collective doorstep seriously.

I specifically picked Che because I suspect the anti-bike-lane people feel they are the "rebels" here, standing up to "the man" trying to impose his will, when the reality is we have had cars imposed on us--rammed down our throats, if you will--for 50 years by big oil and auto ma...

Re: Politics
And if we dare bring these facts up, we're the bad guys all over again. The facts aren't a problem, they are facts. The problem is what to do about them, and if you want to be a bad guy, maybe suggest withdrawing all support for NATO and ceasing support for Ukraine. Then, maybe. That suggestion was...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election
Intimidation? How about we show up in force, wearing t-shirts depicting Che Guevara riding a bike, with loaded AR-15s, zip ties, and bear spray, chanting about how they should take their shitty little storefronts back to Mayberry? Isn't this how politics is done these days?
Sigh.
Sigh.
