Dude. I swear. One more lane. Just one more lane, bro, and then traffic will be fixed. C'mon, just one more lane, man!

Re: olathe lands another plum
A better article is in today's business journal news. Looks like most of the incentives went to keep Farmers here as they were "threatening" to move to OKC or Pheonix. In return for the tax abatement, they offer to add jobs over the next three years. In a sense, it's more a case of Far...

Re: I-70
Adding that fourth lane would probably require enough additional property purchases to drive up the cost significantly. I know that was a big part of why Highway 40/Interstate 64 in St. Louis was rebuilt with six lanes instead of eight from Kingshighway to I-170.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
The terminal reminds me of Southwest Florida International, which was built in 2005. It also has only crosswalks. It's been my experience that they usually have one or two cops monitoring traffic and the crosswalks. Arrivals level: https://goo.gl/maps/kbma8Curx9J1dtCA9 Departures level: https://goo....

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
There's a USA TODAY article from 2006 about the then-new cell phone lots. It's a familiar drill. You wait until the last minute before leaving the house for the airport to pick up an arriving friend or family member, to minimize the wait. But unless you're lucky, airport police will have to shoo you...

We need an army of civic-minded volunteers, equipped with tennis balls on the end of broomsticks, to conquer the scuffing menace.

Maybe they figured the planning going into this can be mothballed for a decade or so and rolled back out when it's time to move downtown.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 3:29 pm It would be nice, but East Village is the way to go. If a minority owner in Sporting KC wants to pitch this, then do it for a new Children's Mercy Park.

Thoughts after watching the flyover: - If we couldn't get a real fountain at the airport, we sure as shit ain't getting a bunch of them over a freeway - (Allie Brosh meme) GLASS BALCONY TOWER ALL THE BUILDINGS, including the AT&T building -- even cell phones need switching centers, y'know - I li...

Wow, I really like that. I imagine the decision's already been made and the Shermans were being polite, but hopefully they are still open to ideas. Now cue suburbanites asking "WhEre aRe wE sUpPosEd tO pARk???"

As a parent of a six-year-old, I'm a little ambivalent about the Lego store, only because I can imagine opening up the package on the tray table and having pieces scatter everywhere when we hit a bit of turbulence, leading to missing pieces and an unhappy kid. But as a business idea, clearly it work...

Just solve the whole problem by building a new high-end hotel on site with another parking garage underneath. Great idea. That Marriott is rough. A year or so ago, I happened to sit next to a Delta pilot on an MCI-DTW flight whose job it was to go to various cities and evaluate the crew hotels for ...

Uh, could we change that to 10-minute headways during rush periods? The Blue Bus will still serve economy parking, and KCI officials said buses will pick up at shuttle stops every 20 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Such a BS excuse, just because they are used to breaking the rules... people in KC are such entitled A holes when it comes to parking. I see people in KC parked in handicap spots at QT almost daily, i see 10s of cars just left in loading zones every day downtown, people park across the sidewalks, t...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I remember flying out of RSW in the 90s, before the new terminal was built in 2005, and they only allowed checked-in passengers past security even before 9/11 -- not for security reasons, but for space. The concourses were too crowded to let anyone pas security who wasn't flying. If you're picking u...

I noticed Google Maps still has the outline of Terminal A when you zoom in. Kind of annoying, because I'm sure the aviation department got them everything they need for a detailed model of the new terminal, but I'm sure it'll get updated eventually. Not to drag crap from other parts of the internet...
