Re: UMKC Health & Sciences buildings
Its funny that most of my out of town visitors always rave about greenspace and trees in Kansas City. The system of parks and boulevard is what sets Kansas City apart from other cities. And it is a relic from the 19th century when the city was at its most dense population. Come on, that...

Re: Function Junction in Crown Center
From the little rendering in the Crown Center news, there will only be a sign. I'm not even sure if they will open up the walls and to allow the seating area to have exposure to the outside. I will look into it.

Re: Function Junction in Crown Center
so, where that little dumb ass gift shop was is where panera is going? ?? no it would go in the bottom of this tower, facing grand, most of the western portion of the lower floor. I think its occupied by crown center's leasing offices now. http://photos.imageevent.com/kcgridlock/kansascitymissouri...

Re: UMKC Health & Sciences buildings
I can't tell from the rendering how the buildings relate to the street on the other side, but Michael is right. We should expect more from our only urban university that is trying so hard to be a true "urban" university. They really should have run these plans by the urban planning depar...

Sombody should have got a shot of this angle before construction and demo started. The transformation (before & after) would have been incredible. This same view will be so cool in a few years. Freaking awesome. http://www.kcskyscrapers.com/albums/album40/JonesStoreDemolition_014_edited.sized....

Re: Jones Store Demolition + Bonus H&R Block photos
wow, thanks toss, I was hoping somebody would post some shots of that area. Driving east on 12 is a different animal and right now, I can't even image how different it will look with a condo tower on top of retail instead of a deteriorating five story blank white wall. This shot is awesome and pre...

Re: April 4 election for stadium renovations?
Guys, it's over. Jackson County is going to pass this tax by at least 70%. It sucks, but it's over. We have to move on. This town does not have the leadership and even if it did, there is not a chance in hell the residents of this town (KS or MO) are going to fund a new downtown ballpark. It...

I think its wrong to direct anti joco propaganda toward members of this forum. I am just as bad as anybody and its mostly just because this is a place to vent. Check out this dialog from people posting comments on my site about the OP arena: "Where is Overland Park?" --DaLou, 02/04/05 &q...

Re: April 4 election for stadium renovations?
The TSC sucks. KCdchef, if you think the 'K' is the better than all the newer downtown baseball stadiums (cincy, seattle, houston, the future st.louis, denver) you're def cooking up some special brownies. It will be a very sad day in Kansas City if this new tax increase is approved. You're ta...

Re: April 4 election for stadium renovations?
kcdcchef, you know I totally dissagree with you right? I grew up going to Kauffman, but it needs to be downtown. Kauffman stadium feels like a AAA stadium compared to other MLB parks. But... You are totally right about one thing. This is going to pass with flying colors and there is little we can d...

Re: OFFICIAL - Federal Reserve HQ construction
Well, at least they didn't move to Renner Blvd, you know that's where it's at :), I like the design now that I have seen the fascade. The renderings sucked. Yes, it has horrible urban design, the is an OP design in the city, but it's the Federal Reserve, they are going to get nuts with the saftey z...

Re: Let's Get AppleBee's Downtown
Applebees just proves what is wrong with this town and how hard it will be to overcome....the state line. Highlander made the biggest point in this thread "Unfortunately, KC has finite HQ resources". Well, it has been proven over and over again, that most of the highest profile and largest...

Re: What are they doing at Crown Center?
Yep, they are installing a new high tech fountain that will be turned on year round. It will be pushed back away from Grand more. They are also installing some really nice granite tile etc and adding a lot more benches and stuff too. The Mayor’s Christmas tree will now go in spot between the ne...

I agree on frequency vs larger buses. I would MUCH rather see 5-7 minute frequency than wait for a large bus. But many times now,you wait 15-30 minute for a “fullâ€

Re: MAX Rapid Bus FAQ and Newbie Guide - www.kcmax.info
I think you hit most of the big ones. Even though the Convention Center stops have been extremely popular, I think they really need to think about straightening out the route. I avoid MAX when traveling through Downtown. But they probably should wait till the south side of downtown opens up be...

Re: UMKC Health & Sciences buildings
Not really.... let it be all grass. I'd rather have a real city instead of everything looking like 95th & Metcalf. The city does NOT make a good suburb. If people want a suburban-looking campus they WILL choose a suburb over the city everyday. This city needs to set itself APART from the suburb...
