Re: Westside happenings

I hope more housing of this type gets built, very encouraging. I wish it could be built to a slightly lower price point in more neighborhoods. I don't get why a 1600 sqft house needs 3.5 bathrooms... That kind of thing is what makes homes expensive. In my opinion the kids can share lol.

Re: Westport

This is an extremely disappointing development for a stretch of road that could have a lot of potential as a nice urban corridor. SW Trafficway, the triangle, and all of the roads leading to it are a blight fro everyone living in the vicinity. Hate to see more of these cheap suburban format business...

Re: Beacon Hill

Dog shit downtown is a greater problem here than any other city I’ve lived in I literally watched a guy let his golden retriever shit in the middle of the sidewalk in the Freight House District and walk away from it. He fully saw me there looking at him with my large group and if I had not been try...

I’d support Dave 100%. The times I’ve met him he didn’t strike me as a that kind of political animal but damn if we should be so lucky.

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

100% moving transmission lines underground, even incrementally over a long time frame, would be laudable for the numerous benefits it would have in terms of reliability, interactions with trees, beautification, etc. Not saying it wouldn't be an expense but it's something that should be nibbled at ar...

Re: Rail to KCI - 2023

You are asking for a transit system to accommodate a type of development and a lifestyle that was intentionally designed to be hostile to transit, and the real answer to your concerns is that this is why a rail line through the Northland doesn't really make sense in the first place. But if we imagi...

Curious, does the train stop outside everyone’s home? Is there a small station on every block? I’m just curious how you expect people to get to the train to use it? Everyone Ubers or takes a cab? Walk, ride a bike, electric scooter? Point being there will have to be some kind of station somewhere t...

I’m not necessarily so sour on Buttigieg in particular but honestly just a lack of seriousness in government in general. We’ve had major crises related to our transportation infrastructure in recent years. Mass flight cancellations, logistical crises at ports, freight rail issues including derailmen...

This is a good article. This quote made me laugh too. “ In an interview in early June, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg acknowledged the problem, but he offered no solutions except the need to study it further.” I hope there is an environmental review before the study. I know, that quote had...

https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/22534714/rail-roads-infrastructure-costs-america We are bad at building all infrastructure efficiently/cheaply. Rail especially. The nature of the freight railroad operators in the US is part, I’ll also toss in the grossly unaccountable layers of bureaucracy and the...

Took my first flight out of the new terminal on Tuesday. Very nice to have a modern facility with the ability to get a decent coffee and not be miserable and tripping over people while waiting for your flight. Breathing a sigh of relief for the bear minimum. No complaints from me, though I won’t int...

Guess we’ll just not invest in any park space, transit, etc. whatsoever until there’s not a single person left unhoused. I can’t fathom the race to the bottom mentality some of you guys have. Let’s just pour concrete in the swimming pools while we’re at it because sometimes people go there that are ...

I don't see much problem closing Baltimore. Any fear I've voiced of closing any street has zero to do with any car first mentally. It has everything to do with protecting streetcar headways and the already all too often closing of grand which basically takes it out of any traffic flow, which will b...

Oh man, bummer about Tomahawk and Indian Creek Trails. Last year I was riding to visit my parents who live at 143rd and Switzerish via Trolley Track, Lee Boulevard and Tomahawk Creek a couple times a month. About 20 miles one way and just one way is a huge slog on a regular bike for my wimpy ass. On...

Re: What other cities are doing about affordable housing

I need three bedrooms and preferably an alcove or flex space for a desk. 2 full baths preferred, 1.5 required. I need 1200 sq ft. I only need one parking space. I just had a son early this year and my wife and I will probably grow our family more in the next few years. These NIMBY's who think that a...

Lack of outdoor public pools should be a huge embarrassment for KC. Some are small shallow little pools best for children. Some in recent years have been closed due to maintenance issues or lack of staff, Swope was closed last year right? I heard Jarboe Park pool was under threat of closure, someone...
