Re: Three Light

Sounds like the city council approved the incentives for 3 light. Was this the last hurdle?

Re: Politics

It was a policy that could have been changed at any time by Trump. It didn't require any action by Congress. But, this is what I don't understand: If it was policy that could have been changed anytime by Trump, then what was the point of the executive order? Why wouldn't Trump just change the polic...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Take a look at slide 6. This shows that the extra sq footage is going to be an overall increase which means more amenities and physical space per passenger than the initial proposal. http://www.flykci.com/media/7671/21jun18-business-session-final.pdf The original plan called for the ability to expan...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

$1.4 billion sounds much more realistic as does the 1 million sq feet. The previous size and cost always concerned me that we were building on the cheap and that the airport would feel small. I don't have concerns with that anymore. Get this built!

Re: 1800 Walnut

This will only help the Crossroads. I understand their concerns, but this isn't tearing anything down and will add affordable rents to the area in addition to bringing more retail and adding some architectural flair! Love this project and it should get approved ASAP!

Re: Politics

and now we just spent several posts talking about how the ball was dropped while Obama was president and not talking about children being removed from their parents and placed into cages. Way to derail AllThingsKC, you succeeded. I disagree. This is fundamentally what is wrong in this country. We h...

Re: Politics

No laws were broken by these kis or there parents. It's not illegal to seek asylum. They came to the front door and knocked. 1. I do not believe it illegal to seek asylum. Neither is taking away these kids from their parents. If border patrol believe the adults are a threat to the kids (among other...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I think the argument that they couldn't have expected #3 is horse crap. That's their job and they've build new terminals before and thus should have understood the FAA wanted them to wait until environmental studies were complete. So, I can foresee 4-6 months delay for 1 and 2 but not for the FAA on...

Re: OFFICIAL - The New Yorker (Hotel Bray)

This is such a great development. We need more like this with the right type of amenities and retail components. I know the units are small, but the fact that it is 100% leased should speak volumes to the demand for lower priced units.

Looks like they're going vertical now on the web cam. Workers are pouring the second floor on Baltimore side.

Anyone have pictures of the International gates that were recently remodeled? Are those gates open yet or do they open when Iceland Air takes off next week?

I agree. This seems like a good corporate sponsorship match, especially since Hy-Vee no longer is the prime sponsor for the Royals.

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

I will agree that about 4-6 years ago there were some definite quality control issues, but in the past 3 years I've had nothing but clean and high quality stays with great service. My issue with Marriott isn't the main level brand, it is all the sub-brands that are extremely cheap and lacking.

Not sure what Hilton's you've stayed in recently, but as compared to Marriott or Sheraton, I'd stay in a Hilton property anytime.

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

Yes, it is the only "Hilton" tier. However, Hilton brands includes Curio (Hotel Phillips), Embassy Suites (Fed Reserve), Hampton Inn, and many others. So they are fairly saturated in the downtown market unless they want a convention size hotel.

Re: Old Federal Reserve (925 Grand)

Just read an article on KCBJ that was locked. It stated that the developer is set to begin work in 2 weeks (Asbestos clean up) and is targeting 20 months for the hotel and data center to be finished. The 2 year delay had to do with the lender who didn't want to do a single loan for both the hotel an...

That red crane seems anything but portable. It is quite amazing how it gets around town.
