Re: Main Street MAX
Grid, I think the line will stay on the Main-Brookside-Wornell road since it touches JCN to the west, UMKC to the east, Brookside to the east then stops in Waldo. What is up with KC naming the same road four diffrent things. Main-Brookside-Wornell, 47th-Cleaver-Vanbrunt, Shawneemission-Wardparkway-V...

Just a question for all of you that think the 80mil will fail in Jackson county, how did Jackson county vote on BiState 2, when it 500mil for the stadiums?

OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
Well Julia Kauffman has already "Chipped in" 50mil. which many believe may be the largest single donation ever to an performing arts center.
And you guys talk about 50mil like its no big deal. these people don't have an infinite amount of money.

I think some of you are forgeting that the 80 mil for the truman sports complex (not just for the K) is money that the county is contractualy obligated to spen on the stadium per the lease (Yes both theams pay for the privlage of playing in those stadiums). If glass or hunt wanted to move they could...

A downtown ballpark is the best thing for downtown. Renovating the K is the best move for David Glass. I can see both sides. What I can't see is how the Glass family would ever see a return on a 100mil investment in downtown when every would expect him to raise his payroll by 50mil (or more) a year....

Will Raytown see a renaissance?
My son will stand in line at Loma Vista Hardware down in westport for hours when they have a sale. The son (Craig?) runs the skate shop in the basement and up until a year ago they had a suit shop on the second floor that sold $2500 Armanis (sic) and the like. I can't even spell "Armani". ...

"Hallmark Gold Crown Stadium" I like it. I say build it in the crossroads but not in Wasington Park. But I think any developed green space in a city in valueable. Especialy if we move toward a more pedestrian society. Saying it doesn't get used is relitive to your definition of use, which ...

Re: High Speed Rail
YES this is what I've been hoping for for years. Lets take 1/10 of what Bush is asking for in Iraq and invest it in this. 300 mile an hour trains cannot travel on conventional tracks. Have to use a magnetic induction system. http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/946.htm There is one proposed between LA and ...

Will Metcalf South Ever Be Redeveloped?
Better get moving OP. Don't want have another Blue Ridge Mall on your hands. Last time i was in there it was so dead I could have been at Banister or Indian Springs. Big Box is the new old new sub urban development of choice. Didn't Metcalf south use to be open air like Blue Ridge was.

How about "The Heartland" as a region. Encompasing Lincoln, Omaha, DesMions, Springfield, columbia, St.Joe, Joplin, Lawarence, Wichita, Lawarence and Manhattian. I used to think we were mid-west but that seams to be more of St. Louis to Cinci. Just a thought.

I tend to think of Amerisports in the Ameristar as the best place to watch a game. But I'm biased so my vote don't count.

Grid, Thanks for the kind words and check your PM. I have a hard time getting excited about the 350hyway talk because it has been going on for 20 years and nothing has happened. I would like to see something like what 40hyway is in Blue Springs or Shawnee Mission Parkway out in Shawnee. There is a g...

chrizow, Go SOUTH!!! The other thing that might be of note is that in 86 we did away with the Confederate Flag and Dixie as or fight song. I don't think majority of the white kids at South thought of it as a racist symbol (I had one that I wore all the time). It was more a lack of understanding. I'm...

O.K. I'm going to set you guys straight on Raytown. From a 34 year resident. 1. Mama's family being set in Raytown was Vicki Lawarence’s "revenge" for getting a ticket in Raytown when she was in town on the dinner theater circuit. Raytown has always be notorious for its super aggressive ...

I lament lossing a nice green space in the middle of all those high rises more that loosing an few old warehouse buildings. KC should move now to create ordanances that perserve the crossroads current quirkyness. I'm thinking building height restrictions (both directions no single or two story build...

If you are talking about teh long two story building that wraps around the parking lot. That is where the Post Office is moving when the IRS takes over their building next year.
