Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail
So all debate aside, what are the realistic chances of any of this happening? Does anyone have connections with City Council to measure how they feel about all of it? Obviously Clay Chastain has been a thorn in the side of the City, but perhaps it is possible they spin this to their favor.

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
What is the conversation like concerning reconnecting KC to Denver and Omaha? What about improved rail speeds? Money isn't easy to come by, but I am curious if there has been any meaningful discussion about these things.

East Side Development
An interesting article. It made me wonder if something similar could help with Kansas City's east side. The only problem noted by the article was lack of input from Over the Rhine's current residents. I still think the amount of revitalization in that area is great, though. http://www.politico.com/m...

Re: New Convention Hotel
Is there anything we can do to persuade companies to come back downtown? Do you think revitalization will help lure them back? Convention planners have said for a long-time that downtown KC was under-served in hotel rooms close to the convention center--as compared to competitor cities. The City has...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I'm not knowledgeable on the specifics, but with the "proposed district boundary" being more far reaching than the special assessment zone, does that allow for extension within the boundaries without another vote? KCRTA's map doesn't make the boundaries of the proposed new TDD completely o...

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-between
They are winning the PR battle because city leaders are failing to adequately educate citizens about the long-term density problem the City faces, and more specifically, with generating revenue for a municipality that is very large physically for a population that is relatively low for its' space. ...

Re: New Convention Hotel
Read item 6 for the definition. It's a major convention if more than 50% of attendees are from out of state and get a hotel room. It has no minimum number of people required. this is basically money for holding an event to fill hotel rooms and restaurants. There's a part in there about how it's to ...

Re: New Convention Hotel
$3 million for a 2000 person convention is $1500 per person. That number is crazy low to have any impact beyond a few conventions claiming it. I believe it targets larger conventions instead of numerous smaller conventions. The full text of the bill is below. http://www.house.mo.gov/billtracking/bi...

Re: New Convention Hotel
Somewhat related to the hotel- The General Assembly has passed a bill that allots $3 million annually to cover as much as 50% of the costs of a convention (with certain criteria being met) if they relocate to a Missouri location. All that needs to be done now is have Governor Nixon sign the bill. Co...

Had some time to spruce up the Downtown Page. Updated pictures and some info on transit, the convention center, and the Kauffman PAC. There are tons of things that need citations. Even if you just edit a paragraph, every little bit helps. Also, our pages views have jumped, so maybe what people see w...

Bringing Conventions to Kansas City
Missouri General Assembly bill would allot $3 million annually to help cover costs of conventions if they choose Missouri. The bill just needs to be signed by Governor Nixon. This could be great coupled with the new hotels and transit infrastructure in Kansas City. What a time to be alive. http://ww...

Does anyone know a thing or two about editing on Wikipedia? I'd love to spruce up the pictures and content on the page. It just doesn't do a great job of marketing our city to prospective visitors.
