Re: Nelson-Atkins Expansion (YES..white glass is the end result)
I've been spending a lot of time around the nelson lately. I have completely fallen for the design now. On Friday, I saw Holl there, getting interviewed...it was really exciting. I snapped a picture, Ill upload it if anyone wants to see it. The lenses are a bit dull on a cloudy day, but when the...

Re: Lyric Opera operations moving to Crossroads
I always thought the Lyric would make a great upscale club, like ones from the 30s w/ the huge swings that models swing on and rose peddle floating around...haha. I don't remember where, but I saw that in a movie somewhere (Goodfellas?) It could be a club where you have to wear a tux or a catour d...

Re: Where can i get a decent haircut???
Tina is the barber there and she is great. She is a really nice lady and the room is nice too. I never have to wait to get a haircut. Hopefully it won't get too crowded (yeah right)...they will probably not make us memebers wait anyway if there is a line anyway.

Re: P+L Tenant Rumors
Downtown's restaurants went out of business in the first place because no one would visit when they had similar shit in the suburbs. There isn't one announcement so far that would pull a tourist away from Legends in KCK. Ted Montana's?!?! Give me a friggin' break people! Seriously, why would someo...

Re: I am falling in love with this town!
I've gained a reputation for being obsessed w/ KC at school. I brag about how it is the perfect place to live, cause it is. It has a good mix of East Coast, West Coast, Northern, a little southern...but mostly it's unique. I see it as a series of small towns that are connected by beautiful parks ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)
Has anyone noticed that this thread had more posts on it earlier today and some are now missing? (Including one of mine?) Anyway...I think that a Triumphal Arch would work well at the end of the existing mall on the south side of liberty memorial. A 4 or 5 story 'neo-artdeco' arch with a promenad...

Matt looks haggard as hell these days. Did anyone else notice that picture? I was remembering the picture of him and his wife back in 2003? when he was working on the Law Building. Wow, he's changed...I guess that's what can happen when trying to be a developer in this red tape mad, wrecking ball...

I live close as well...I think it's a bit of an eye soar actually. I haven't tried it, but the tables on the lawn look bad and that cheesy, walk-up, carnaval-style food vendor thing in the back is equally ugly. New business are good, just wish they looked better.

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)
It's not too big. The reason it's not better used is that many areas are hard to get to and in terrible repair anyway. Look at the area around the lake. In most cities that would be a popular place, but the paths around it are shitty black top that's crumbling. There is a nice stone bridge, but ...

Just went up the tower today, always like to be a tourist in my own town. Wow, that place is packed! There were tourists from all over the US and the world (according to accents, other languages). Some Indian tourists and the usual Asians. It's great that KC can attract these people and that the...
