Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I’d be interested to hear how the meeting with the Royals and the Crossroads neighborhood went if anyone in attendance has time to write about it. How receptive is the Crossroads generally? Are the Royals helping or hurting their cause with the neighborhood? KCDowntown Damn it I meant to go to that.

“Process wasn’t moving along” or whatever variation Sherman said. Idea are just ideas until they start getting executed and that’s when it gets hard and road blocks come flying at you. is that confirmation? Not talking specifics but not denying there were roadblocks making the site fall from higher...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It’s sad to see the lies sway people so easily. I don’t mind people defending the businesses even though I strongly disagree with the idea they’re too important to go away in order for this stadium. It’s the other stuff I’m seeing that’s influencing minds while being inaccurate or downright wrong th...

Yes, everything else is great! The ceiling treatment just makes me think of cheap Christmas decor.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 12:58 pm The art is my favorite part. That piece I don't think is the best one but I overall like it. Needed something that covered a lot of area.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I love our new terminal and agree with you all, basically never see or hear anyone complaining about it while there. My only complaint and it's pathetic, is the "art" in the main lobby as you walk in for departures. It just looks so basic and underwhelming. I get it though, budgets.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
That's not how any of this works. I'm so sick of explaining this. Under Missouri law you can build the fucking white house where they want to build it and keep it in perfect condition, and then have it declared blighted based off the surrounding areas. Recent mo courts have looked at that, and we'l...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I think people are a bit confused on the law. The royals are not a condemning authority. That will presumably be Jackson county, which is a condemning authority. The royals promise so far is to purchase land and transfer it to Jackson county. You can see where I'm going here. All the the land in ea...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Austin's a weird town. UT might as well be the NFL there Austin's not a slow growth midwestern city. It's a sunbelt city with the fastest growth rate of any city in the US and in a very business friendly state. There is not a 1:1 relationship between pro sport cities and growth or economic developm...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
https://globalsportmatters.com/business/2022/06/15/so-your-city-wants-sports-stadium/ You're never going to find an economist who will say tax-payer funded stadiums are a good investment. They don't work in anything besides numbers and the numbers are just one factor. Sports teams are so insanely i...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Transparency was their mantra, not my request. Weird you keep carrying their water just because you got the site you wanted. Both things can be true.we all know these deals take back room dealing but to never make their site public on their own site until it was selected is just a failure. End of s...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
It's still super disappointing in the leadership of KCMO (Platt, Q, etc) and JaxCo to make this backroom location "deal" with the Royals when the Royals were claiming to be so open with their fans and the taxpayers and all they knew it was EV, based on their own site as of a week ago. A f...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Well, I'm trying to be clear that these are my opinions as to not hurt feelings but.... I think it makes for a fucking fantastic experience for people who will go to the games and enjoy downtown. The main entrance to the stadium is at ground level on the south side along Grand. There are multiple p...

Oak is closed for sure on the renderings we've all seen. Truman is tunneled under the park cap. While I know closing Oak is hated by some, it creates a really cool pedestrian experience. The bridge over Truman funnels to the upper concourse which is acts as an outfield plaza in between the building...

One person's viewpoint on the sales tax. And this is not from an anti-stadium Facebook page, just a general KC page. Personally I really don't care if they put a stadium downtown or not. However IMO the best location would be the East Village. That land has more or less been set aside for a stadium...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
And so it begins. How much influence do these dipshit propagandists really have? Please tell me it’s nearly none. Enough to have slowed various projects and get some city ordinances passed that really make zero sense. I tend to see their stuff being shared by Hartzel Gray who is a giant hypocrite a...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
^ I'm not saying any of it's wrong. Outside of the numbers used, it's just a political position.
We said it was coming, so here it is. KC's biggest anti-development group back at it, attempting to continue to slow our cities progress at all costs.
