Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
shame nothing else ever came back to life. Figure it's been at minimum 13 yrs since 2010 and the 2088 recessions was in the rearview. My guess the land banking was really counting on Royals coming downtown. Now that appears to be gone so they will have to go back to the drawing board. Great potentia...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront
I agree we need more people and I don't know how to get there without more emphasis on employers, daycare, etc. When I speak to young couples, they say they don't mind KCPS. Today, it's the crime and lack of convenience, having to scramble to get what they need. My biggest beef with the transit str...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront
Honestly outside of mega cities like Chicago, NYC, etc. that have metro populations over 4 million you can go to downtown or areas of downtown where it may appear to be "dead". You point is still valid and KC is mostly quiet around downtown unless there is an event of some kind. You can us...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Then Frank needs to come to the table looking to make a deal not be obstructionist and vindictive. I'm all for ensuring the tax payers have a good deal, and in principle have nothing wrong with seeking assurances of long term leases to stay in KC & Jackson county. Just seems to me that all of th...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
This is so dumb and hopefully there will be enough voters to boot Fran White out of office. Not sure what it takes to recall a County Commissioner but it sure seems like he would be a good candidate. However what if the Royals & Chiefs agree to resolve the questions/issues that were laid out and...

Re: Companies moving/expanding to KC area
we'll take all new companies & business. Company has 35 employees now but if they are a group on the rise they could be up to 100 in no time. We'd all love a "big corporation" that will bring a thousand jobs with it. But getting companies like this and provide an environment to grow &a...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
We are not Green Bay or Buffalo. There is now badge or trophy for going to a dangerously cold football game. I’m proud of those fans who did but not envious in any way. The cold did play a role in the game for all players more so it appears for Miami. But if your argument is the aesthetics of the g...

Re: Bond Bridge Question
Where does MODOT stand on safety lighting? The Bond bridge is dark. Not even highway lighting on it. Basic lighting to help illuminate the roadway is needed. As for ornamental lighting why not let Evergy advertise their name on the bridge somehow on the side or roadway, via a light projection. Have ...

I did not realize “high rent section 8” was a possible design style, let alone the only choice for all development in the Riverfront area *sigh*

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
Didn’t the FAA, pretty much stall for months the apartment building in the River Market? There were a few other things but I recall the City getting involved to help streamline their 60 year policies & procedures. Granted developers are most likely waiting on better interest rates & most lik...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
i thought there were a few plans in the works for West side of Broadway. One around the old Denny's site and South. Building design is held up by the FAA right now on height issues. Then you have the Faultless site with LUX that is in progress but most likely will need to go to another developer. I ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
You could build this in a way that either preserved or created new retail opportunities along Grand, maybe even one or two with a view into the stadium a la Fenway. But also, nothing the Royals have shown so far suggests they have assembled a team that can do any of this with the kind of precision ...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
They used to correct? I recall staying in the Old Muehlebach around 2003. The rooms had been updated and such and it was a nice enough hotel. But it had the skywalk connecting it to the Marriot as you could use amenities over there, etc. Did they sell it do the developer who was wanting to turn it i...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?
Complete cash grab and caters more to fans of other teams/Messi instead of catering to your own fans. Hate this. Uhhh. pretty sure SKC is not a non-profit company. Of course it is a "cash grab" as you call it. Any franchise needs to maximize every opportunity to generate revenue where &am...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I doubt Sporting KC is going to move anytime soon. Within the next 25 years? Sure I could buy that and given the history of EV's lack of development it may be still vacant and open by then.

If it is the CrossRoads really hope the EV gets something. Another 30 yrs of vacant parking lots is not acceptable.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Just posting this here. This is from a 2021 study for the 10.5 acre, 4 block site bound by Truman, Oak, 17th, and Grand. A stadium can tightly fit in there. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53452388999_010f16c93b_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53452073256_39bd894a28_h.jpg I was thinki...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I think the KC Biz Journal article mentioned 1 thing for me that tells the CrossRoads story. They mention that infrastructure there are the least, most likely because of the development that has taken place over the years. The EV is basically just concrete lots, so I can see that being a deal breake...
