Re: C'mon EDC -- Get to Work!
Why wasn't anyone trying to save the Golden Ox???????? TIF the mother! As sentimental as the Golden Ox was, bad business decisions should not be rewarded with public subisdies. Other new restaurants are opening in the West Bottoms, so obviously it's a viable location for people with a good business...

Shake-up???? Sounds like the same pigs are feeding at the same trough. (sp?) It's business as usual at the EDC. Nothing will ever change. Feel a little bad for Whitener. NOT A SCAPEGOAT!!!! What the F***. She's demoted and now has to report to her new replacement. Sounds like she's being made a scap...

the latest indication is that W&R will move downtown...We'll see if it actually happens. Agreed...they are the poster child for corporate welfare!!!! The TE proposal is solid, and could possibly be done with conventional incentives (i.e. straight taxabatement, no super-TIF). I've seen the propos...

EDC Cornerstone Awards
Wow...what a waste of time. I just spent the last hour and a half at the Cornerstone Awards. It would have been more enjoyable getting all my teeth pulled out. Between hearing about the Mayor's rah-rah Royals-Chiefs speech and Urdis's angry staff, I was amazed by the mediocraty of some of the award ...

Archon, out of Dallas I believe, is the current owner. Time Equities (TE), New York, has a contract on the Jones Store and City Center Square. Closing date is unknown. Development rights for the Jones store are currently up in the air...Bridges used to have it but they lapsed. In light of TE involve...

Q, agreed, the zoo would be a much better place for investment. I'm not particularly excited about an aquarium, but the zoo is proven, and the facilities are excellent. It's one of the hidden jewels of KC.

Give me a break with the aquariums!!! Enough already, if it was economically feasible and the demand was there it would have happened years ago. I too have seen the pretty pictures of catfish fountains and aquariums. They sure are nice, but reality is leadership in this city has a hard enough time g...

Actually, the railyard site sits further west than the riverfront development site. Its independent of the riverfront RFQ. However, your right on, regarding the potential of the railyard site. It will be exciting to see what evolves there. Maybe we can get some more national players interested.

Does anyone really think W&R is coming downtown
Not a chance that W&R will come downtown...Just another ploy by them to get $$. Don't they have a lease committment for the next 15 yrs? I think its an attempt for Bridges to get back development rights on the Jones store site. Didn't he have them before and let them expire? I think the bigger q...
