Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

i go to the plaza a lot because i can get there on the max and they have four major draws: a movie theater, fast-casual dining, coffee houses, and a music/book store. all are open past 5 pm and are in a walkable environment. crown center is my back-up, but suffers from less convenient hours for most...

Re: Support The Roasterie for downtown grocery

you can also buy bulk roasterie beans at the golden harvest bakery on the lower level of crown center. believe it or not, coffee girls [broadway] does not sell whole beans, river market coffeehouse [their own roast?] is only open one night a week, and you say tomato [parisi] isn't open nights. i kno...

they only allow non-subscribers to read their news briefs, not full articles from the print version. it's only $2 at your local bookstore... and worth it!

i bet he couldn't get the business that still operates on main street, the one with the big ass surface lot and the bus shelter in front. i can't remember the name, but i know it's still active. i think there's also a law firm a bit north of there.

Re: Whole Foods Buys Wild Oats

I'd heard that Wild Oats was planning on moving that story to a larger location somewhere within a couple blocks of that midtown location.  I don't know if this will stall that plan.  I love that little Wild Oats...although something a little larger that had a meat department would be excellent and...

^^^  Are those LED's buried in the road, or just reflectors? Color-changing LED's would be an interesting idea.  Red on no-walk, then maybe go blue when it's time to cross.  They'd even survive our winters because we don't plow our streets.  ;) they were buried in the pavement and synchronized with...

Re: OFFICIAL: Kansas City Mayoral Race

I don't see why being from the Northland would be a negative or hesitation.  Not all Northlanders are anti-city or anti-Downtown. that would not explain why i personally dislike fairfield, but i do believe that some city people have a negative perception of the northland. it works both ways, i'm af...

Re: Automobiles.

nope.  i appreciate the fact the Big 3 employ thousands of US workers and that's great, but the Big 3 is also responsible for a rather destructive political/environmental/social matrix that to me outweighs the societal benefits of the employee pensions.  the Big 3 are dinosaurs and should be exting...

Re: Automobiles.

Anyone who would buy a new car, versus a program car with a few miles on it, is a true sucker. You lose way too much money on the initial purchase of a new car to justify a 2-4 year loan on a brand new vehicle. there are some notable exceptions, but in general you are correct. there are models that...

Re: OFFICIAL: Kansas City Mayoral Race

I think Fairfield was the one who brought up commuter rail, right? yes. to be fair to chuck eddy, i believe he has also advocated for commuter rail previously as part of smart moves. it will be interesting to see how fairfield does next week. no one's mentioned him as leading any polls, although no...
