Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I've seen several articles indicating that if we don't get off fossil fuels very quickly, Kansas City will be like Phoenix in 50 years. We have already had 90-degree days in May this year in Kansas City. An air-conditioned baseball stadium may be needed at some point. Should they design it now to r...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
LOL @ the language around this "wagering". It's gambling. That's why it was illegal until laws changed. The fact that people want to do it is or that it's a new source of tax revenue irrelevant. If gambling is simply gambling, then it’s already legal in MO, right? I’ve been buying scratch...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I feel like Kauffman has become somewhat overrated by many people, especially KC people. I mean l love the stadium, have many many memories there and it has become somewhat unique. However it has become dated and is not really that nice of a stadium when you look beyond the fountains and outfield. ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Yeah, okay, they don't even have an Eataly in DC. That is the point. My point is there is zero chance of them coming to KC. We have to go to the one in NYC. I have been to them in Italy too. I don't see KC being a large enough city to support a store like that. I mean the plaza can't even get Nords...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
If they're moving it downtown. At least face the stadium so the outfield looks at the city. The renderings have one lone office building back there. I sure HOPE they don't face it east away from everything. That's one reason people love watching games in St. Louis / Pitt. It’ll almost assuredly fac...

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?
I generally get great results with YTTV on the gig connection (also with Netflix). It highlights how bad and compressed some other streaming services are. HBO Now buffers frequently on Android TV and shows signs of poor compression, and Amazon Video is so highly compressed, it is almost distracting...

Re: Prairie Village
That you immediately assumed that was what i was saying you might just be validating a point I didn't make. What was your point then? Sounds an awful lot like you were saying that anyone who didn't realilze that Macy's was going to be closing "long before now" isn't too bright. This ignor...

Re: Westport
Lol. Come on man, KC definitely has more crime than OP. It has a lot of other things that OP doesn’t have though. Weird place to make a stand. You will be surprised then that it's not nearly that clear. https://www.brookings.edu/research/city-and-suburban-crime-trends-in-metropolitan-america/ In 90...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Phoenix, Minneapolis, Houston, etc have light rail dedicated in center lanes, we could do that.... you can't tell me it is hard to do just because we are in America. We tried getting voter approval for that -- twice -- and both attempts failed (city hall support for it was tepid, business support n...

Exactly. Genius marketing move in the days where commercial LEDs were only that harsh blue color.taxi wrote:The only reason people use daylight bulbs is because they don't know any better.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Public works knows. I was just wondering if anyone here had seen what the plans are and if they are just copy/paste the starter line specs or not. I know it seems ridiculous to be concerned with something like this but it would go along way to making the route look more pedestrian friendly and not l...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
The orange are high pressure sodium lighting, They provide a ton of light but are an old technology. If you’re ever curious to see the difference, drive down 75th st in PV ant night and compare those 3000k to those in Roeland Park at 4000k or so. The warmer lights are much more inviting. Lawrence is...
