Re: Sporting Kansas City

10 miles going 75mph on an interstate is nothing. The last numbers I saw said SKC’s average age of a season ticket holder was 29.7. That’s extremely young for a pro team. Additionally, over 40% of season ticket holders are f Johnson County. You can get to I-70 and 435 pretty quickly from many parts ...

Re: 50th & Rainbow Mixed-Use

Bringing more people into a rapidly aging sector of the county & all they can do is complain. Saw the headline before I saw the site & thought it was hilarious. I drive by here all the time & there isn't even foot traffic, it's all older residents that are stuck in their ways. I wouldn’...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

This his exactly what I’m talking about “on top of being a city person”. You don’t like the building bc of its location. If Kauffman was switched with say the IRS building, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. No way. It's not that nice of a ballpark. You put any stadium at the IRS building and t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I know we all want a downtown stadium but acting like Kauffman is some dump is laughable and disingenuous. It’s always Top 10 on any list. Kauffman is a damn good stadium and a downtown one would be better. Both things can be true.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I’d think that in order to get the size of screen you’d want, you’d be eliminating some high value space in the office building, blocking the windows with a screen. Remember the building will be well behind the outfield wall.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

yeah that was my point as well. These aren't outfields with some great skyline (or any) view. they are beloved ballparks because of their neighborhood not because of a highrise in the background. I can't honestly think of many MLB stadiums that applies. Guess Pittsburgh but in order to get that the...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

My point is that Wrigley doesn’t exactly have an “urban” view.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

The views from Wrigley and Fenway really aren’t any better if not worse than the EV site. People love Wrigley in part because they can walk across the street to the game after pregaming at Murphy’s. Not because downtown is 6 miles behind them.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Only the fact that the rendering data I have says East Village was rendered in October 2021 and NKC in July 2023. NKC is a much more recent vision. Doesn't mean much, but surprising to see anyways. We all know East Village has been on top of their mind for a long time now. https://www.instagram.com...

Yeah all this did today was further confirm that I think this is going to EV. Don’t know how anyone really takes away that this is going to NKC from today Tbh. Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I've been told Sporting has always wanted to be downtown long term, but one of the owners has been investing a massive amount of money into the area close to Children's Mercy Park. Cliff Illig is in his 70s, so there will likely be an ownership change sometime soon. You’d have to think if they were...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Heard from someone in the ownership group that the NKC development is $500 million dollars cheaper than EV. Not sure details on if that comes from the follow on development or infrastructure costs or what. I think EV is still the dream for Sherman and the group, but $500 million is a lot of money… ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension

Why do the new poles for overhead streetcar power lines have to be set right in the middle of newly poured sidewalks? Can you cite a specific location? Then I'll check. The new poles they just started installing south of Pershing, half of them are right in the middle of the sidewalk. I know there's...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Should w there be some sort of canopy over the tracks eventually? Seems like the streetcar has trouble if there’s too much rain, snow or heat.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I was walking down Main near 45th and noticed that on the new concrete for the extension track that they’ve laid, there is a full depth crack already at one of the joints.
