Re: Sporting Kansas City

T-Mobile subscribers can get a free MLS Season Pass starting tomorrow (I believe it is a limited time offer). MLS Season Pass is the subscription that gives you access to every single MLS game and the only way to watch all SKC matches.

Re: GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It hits different being in KC now and watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. No sulking and salty anti-KC folks around to make the experience horrible. Just positive vibes, even if we were stressed at times. I did not notice on twitter alot of STL people were seething. A bit surprised. STL Twitter...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)

That rendering is old and from when the lot had different ownership. Even then, I think there was zero chance if it being built. It was clearly another idea just slapped on this lot. The footprint appears to be only slightly larger than the Lights, to I would think this might be closer to 25 stories...

Re: 112 & 206 East 31st

Please just do a better job than Bob Fry on the other side of Union Hill. It's funny you bring that up, because I have seen some midtown residents (those particularly concerned with "historic-looking" buildings) site those as the gold standard for fitting in with the neighborhood aestheti...

That's the site of this completely accurate and well-thought-out rendering, right?

Re: Troost developments

In other news nearby on Troost, the PIEA was slated to address the SE and SW corner's of Linwood and Troost at this month's board meeting, but it was tabled until February. I don't believe this has been posted in this thread yet: a new restaurant/cocktail bar called "Taco Tank" will be ope...

Re: Troost developments

That building is owned by the Clemons brothers. They owned/renovated the three adjacent buildings to the south on that west side of the block, and I think they sold those off. They have this building posted for sale as well (I'm not sure if they would alternatively be looking to lease it). As far as...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such

That's a bit of an odd list - particularly Cleveland at number 2. They tend to be right around the bottom when it comes to population growth (or loss, in their case). Their real estate prices are the lowest of any major metro. Perhaps the low baseline numbers and low numbers of new housing permits a...

Re: Troost developments

The retail spaces in that building are currently being marketed for lease. From what I can tell, there hasn't been any change in ownership. That building has always been perplexing to me. When was the last time it was occupied? Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to find tenants for either the retai...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

One question I haven't really seen addressed is, how much additional federal funding for projects might be made available to KC and other host cities? Maybe the answer is none. Im not sure if it would be explicitly labeled, such as some sort of host city infrastructure fund pool, or the case where b...

Re: Sporting Kansas City

You don't need to subscribe to the AppleTV+ to get MLS (but you do get a discount if you do). You can just get the MLS service which gives you access to all matches across the league (no local blackouts). You will need the app, which should be available on all smart tvs/devices. All broadcasts will ...

Re: Sporting Kansas City

I think the "luster" around SKC is doing pretty well, all things considered. They had the terrible year on the field in 2019 which is when attendance started to fade. Then two years heavily impacted by Covid. Last year, they had another bad year, but still averaged 18,365, which is just a ...

Re: GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No current active plans for expansion/renovation. It's not really needed right now, but I think in a few years it will be. Will they consider a new stadium in the city? I think a portion of the ownership wants to be Downtown, but if KS has a big pot of money from sports betting just waiting to be us...

Re: GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's possible the Sporting exec wanted the Chiefs at the Legends, but I think it's more likely he wanted those funds available for Sporting. They can be used for stadium expansion.

I think this makes it likely that KS covers a big portion of expansion for SKC and they stay out there long term.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don't think it is 80% opposed to a Downtown stadium, but that number is probably accurate for those against public funding for a stadium. Sure, there are those that oppose any stadium Downtown, but I mostly see opposition to tax payer support. Unfortunately, it the two seem inextricably linked.

From the Atlantic, "The U.S. Needs More Housing Than Almost Anyone Can Imagine": https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/11/us-housing-gap-cost-affordability-big-cities/672184/ In one recent survey, just 30 to 40 percent of American adults said they believed that increasing the hous...

Re: New Development on 39th st?

There was a proposal many moons ago for new construction on Loretto's Mercier frontage. I believe neighborhood opposition may have helped kill that (although I'm not sure if that was the only factor). I believe the Loretto has changed hands a couple times since then and is now owned by everyone's fa...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Finally some good news. Now I just need to stay far far away from KC social media for a few weeks or I might jump off a bridge. I sometimes wonder how I even survive going to Nationals and O's games. Geez KC people stop being such rubes. And I really hope they don't build a minor league sized park....

Re: New Development on 39th st?

There was supposed to be a 46 unit apartment building on the car wash site by FFV Development (I'm not sure if they have ever actually developed anything), the same group behind a proposal at 3260 Main St. They were granted a tax abatement by LCRA in October of 2017. The project on 39th seemed to go...

Re: NFL Draft

Because it's the greatest league and extremely entertaining. Idk why that's considered silly. Most people love it. It's debatable what is the "greatest". I think there is definitely a feedback cycle created here largely due to great marketing by the NFL (and the gambling industry). They c...
