Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
Did Union Pacific just build a new HQ in downtown Omaha? Hadn't heard they were looking to relocate.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
We don't want anything like Busch III. The Ballpark Village development has helped, but it's still surrounded by run down, crappy parking lots and parking garages built in the 1960s.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
There is like zero wow factor to this east village proposal. Did they hire Edgemoor to design it too? Gotta do better than this or just leave it where it is. I agree, do it right, or don't do it at all, is what I'm saying or trying to state. The proposal I was referring to probably isn't correct or...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Why wouldn't they get used? Typical KC response. Let's think small and build a little minor league ballpark that seats 20k and then we can worry about adding more seats later. If they want taxpayer support, I would not vote for a downtown stadium if it didn't seat at least 30k+.

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand
Mid July Update: 100% Occupancy And still no real time line on when 3 Light will break ground....ridiculous. I would think Cordish would want to build 3 and 4 together with occupancy like that for both 1 and 2 Light. It's not ridiculous. They rent out apartments to make money. They're probably not ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
even if it is built North/North East from East Village. This should be Incentive to create some new Skyline beyond the walls of the outfield. I bet you could even get projects that would start at the same time of construction to time their opening with the new stadium. Build some residential Towers...

Re: One Kansas City Place
Even the lower lobby level windows never get cleaned. Some of the pavers out front on the Main Street side are buckling and last time I was in the office (a month or so ago), they still had cones and tape around them so people wouldn't trip. I think it's been that way for 6 months or more, just put ...

Re: One Kansas City Place
They could also wash them. I would think a full, successful building like that would have the money to do that once or twice a year. I work in 1KCP and they never wash the windows it seems. Executive Hills is very cheap from what I have been told and doesn't do a good job of maintaining their prope...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Just some stats from a competing city. https://denverinfill.com/blog/2020/01/2010s-decade-nonresidential-summary.html?fbclid=IwAR20eYG64VvGuk8GBsLCrYaCuhCVXrwsxxLOYVmurL0YFDsdogW5ou-IPt8 Downtown Denver now has over 11,000 hotel rooms with 1000 more under construction. Pretty impressive. That's cra...

Re: Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore
Didn't HnR Block get about the same in incentives? I like their building, something similar to size of the HnR Block building would be fine I think. Although their garage is underground, which I would prefer in the W&R tower. But that will make a nice little financial district with both HnR Bloc...

1KCP is full, I work there. There might be 5% unoccupied on sporadic floors.

Is B&M the primary architect on this project? If so, they need to stick to engineering power plants or airports.

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)
We don't even try here. We let contractors and utility companies come up with any excuse and the city waives any required pedestrian access we have on the books Baltimore street isn't a busy walking street anyway, I rarely see people walking on Baltimore between 12th and 14th. There's very little r...

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
When I ask why outsiders who lived in STL left, the common answer is around tense/uptight people, not crime, and those who stay is for the job. this one could also be related to the fact that there is a massive boomer population in st. louis, and less a regional characteristic. people tend to be fa...

Re: NFL Draft
Honestly, having it at Union Station is KC lame, I hope they change their minds. Block off Grand Street, between Truman and 10th Street or so and set up beer/food vendors in the empty lots. You have PnL right there that would benefit greatly. Set up some big screen tvs/large tents and put an artific...

Re: Bringing Conventions to Kansas City
KC won't have the turnout Nashville did and like KCP stated, KC just isn't a party town like Vegas, NO or Nashville. I wouldn't want that vibe downtown all the time anyway. Can you image if our Broadway street was lined with bars for 8-10 blocks...that would be a nightmare and I'm guessing a lot of...
