Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

New pictures posted to the FB page. The arrivals pick up area looks depressing and dark, and roadway looks like it’ll get backed up with more than two flights arriving at same time. Two things I was initially afraid wouldn’t be done right seemed to have not been done right.. The roadway are pretty ...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

How much would it take to restore the Rock Island tracks and bring in some proper commuter rail cars from Chicago and run WC spectators from Union Station out to TCS? Get an agreement with KC Intermodal for track priority during those times. Feels like this would be an atainable project for 2026. I...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

The residential part doesn't have to be completely condo. You attach one of the lower floors of the hotel to an adjacent apartment building either on Baltimore, or the parcel just north on Wyandotte. This allows easy passage for food delivery and housekeeping service. Build a 15-story tower and mak...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Depends. Rail is expensive. Could just be busses and maybe an option TDD to upgrade a corridor to streetcar. Scenarios are being evaluated now and will go public in due time. Stimulus vote this week or soon could also have a big impact. Seems like the reconciled BuildBackBetter Act really won’t much...

Re: Downtown ballpark and condos

The airport was in a bad shape 4 years before the vote. We had known since the 70s that the design didn’t work and since the 90s that it really needed to be replaced. Stadiums today “work” for most people and as GRID mentions a rail line to them could be enough to connect them with downtown crowds a...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Issue is paying for it. I think county based tax may be the way to go unless you want to go to the state for a new approval.

Re: 10th and Main Southwest Corner (former transit center)

This is the first phase of a rethinking of the current KCATA campus. That lane at 18th and Vine could fit a stadium, an innovation district, maybe both. There are better uses for the land and with the facilities ageing it sounds like they are taking a look at moving some pieces.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I’d rather have a downtown to TSC to Raytown or Lee’s Summit rail line than a downtown stadium. However, I do want soccer in the urban core.

Condo financing very hard to do in KC. Luxury hotel financing very hard to do in KC. Together it’s impossible.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

As much as many people on here (cough GRID) like to shoot down everything KC has, and bring up every reason why we ashouldn't be able to host games- people seem to neglect that every single city on the final 17 list has their own share of problems too. Go and read articles from other cities papers ...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Theoretically you could go on transit all the way if you lived in a hotel anywhere along Main St and they had a bus station somewhere downtown to the TSC. They should really try to get the South loop cap built by June 2026 too. What does the south loop lid have to do with this? If you're focused on...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

^Yeah, I read that too and where are they getting $500 mil from? To set up a large screen and expand a football field? That doesn't cost that much. Could they get the state involved? I think KC's best play is geography. They need a city like ours to bridge the gap between the coasts. Star May have ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

When will we find out? FIFA will visit in late October. I think we need to make progress on transit and hotels before their visit. Would be great if we could bring them to an approved Hotel Bravo site, show them where we plan on expanding streetcar to NKC and KU Med, etc. KC has built some good hot...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

More news: Between an expanded streetcar system and putting more buses on the street during the competition, Kansas City can meet the transportation needs of getting to and from events, hotels and the new airport, the host city committee believes. As for hotel rooms, “Kansas City’s hotel inventory i...

News from today: KC 2026 bid claiming that an expanded streetcar network and event specific busses will boost KC’s public transit profile by 2026. KC Streetcar board meeting this week includes discussions about how an expanded system would be funded and operated/maintained.
