Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
I just tested the URL - works like a charm for me, and exactly matched the form I had previously filled out and printed.

1. yes, but only if you don't live in the current TDD 2. same as item 1 3. either that or (more likely) that residences near the streetcar line will become more attractive to live in; w/o a corresponding increase in housing supply, rents will go up 4. correct, which is why it's technically a special...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I really wish I had asked Jolie Justus that when she was at the Downtown Neighborhood Association meeting last month; she mentioned that if the GO bonds passed, the city would start working on the airport again.

*pushes up glasses, takes out retainer*
Interestingly, that sign isn't even in Missouri's road signage guide that MoDOT adopted in lieu of using the federal MUTCD.

I'll second the Downtown Neighborhood Association for anyone living downtown. The next DNA event is a post-Election Day happy hour on the 4th: https://www.facebook.com/events/116585815541270/

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I don't fly Alaska frequently enough to have any status with them, but as I go to (ahem) Alaska for work a couple times each year, breaking up the flight to Anchorage halfway in Seattle is nice. In my experience, their flights are pretty reliable, the service is a bit nicer than on any of the Big 3 ...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
The flight additions notwithstanding, I wonder if Alaska will move over to Terminal C at some point, as Alaska's codeshare and frequent-flyer agreements with Delta go away at the end of April.

Can confirm Domino's is open, as we got a pizza Saturday night.
In case anyone's curious, they're open (for both delivery and carryout) until 1 AM Sunday-Thursday and 3 AM Friday - Saturday.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
While it's pretty low on the "what KCI will actually announce this week" list, if the news was for a direct flight to anywhere in Europe, that'd be...pretty fantastic.

Re: Sewards Folly
I've been traveling to Alaska 3-4x/year for work for the past few years, and I'll elaborate on some of Highlander's points. - Downtown is *very* 60s/70s architecturally...but that's to be expected, given that the entire downtown was relocated/rebuilt after the 1964 earthquake, but the influx of oil ...

+1 for a Longboards.
Maybe they'd be able to a get a deal for the former Zaina space, as it's pretty clear that Pickleman's is doing its best Godot impression currently.

For Torn Label special releases, the strategy is basically:
1 - is it Thursday afternoon? If yes, go to:
2 - what's listed on Torn Label's Instagram/FB feeds as going on-tap tonight?

Amazon started collecting sales tax in Nebraska this past month, even though they have not announced any facilities there. On a national level, it's probably an effort to preempt states from forcing them to collect sales tax as much as anything.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
The optics aren't great on this if it's true, as there's approximately a 100% chance it would be spun as "our CORRUPT City Hall PURPOSELY let our wonderful and convenient airport FALL APART just so they could pass their SCAM bond issue to benefit their CRONIES" by the CFRG crowd.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
The 2016 end-of-year stats for the airport are out. Total passenger volume was up 5.4% over 2015 to 11,041,750 - the most passengers since 2007. 2016 was the first year since 2007 that the number of aircraft operations increased over the previous year - up 3.2% to 122,814. (For comparison, 2007 had...

I had forgotten Doodle existed; they weren't around very long, and only ever released one beer.
Semi-related, has anyone been to Brewery Emperial? I went a couple weeks ago; their outdoor space should do well once spring rolls around.
