Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I don't particularly care about screwing the rich, but how many studies have shown this type of thing to be a good investment?

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I didn't particularly love the movie; the writing, acting, and directing are all pretty uneven. Dude has one army friend who lives in the city who is Robert Johnson reincarnated or something and just so happens to be in the parking lot where his wife was shot etc? Like, huh? But there are some reall...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
My god the new terminal is such an upgrade. I know, everyone already knows, but finally getting to use it myself, like, holy crap. It's actually like a normal airport! Weird how much of an improvement that is, really shines a light on just how miserable the old setup was.

Re: Another KC's "best" BBQ Article
I would agree that some of it is super commercialized--especially the likes of Dickey's, Rudy's, and Bill Miller, of which our closest comparison might be Jack Stack or Gates (even those on an INSANELY smaller scale)--but for as wide as their collective reach is, it's still mostly small businesses (...

Re: Another KC's "best" BBQ Article
The best BBQ in Texas would rank as the worst BBQ in KC. This might be sacrilege but can't say I agree with this take... Yeah, you'd have to never have had good BBQ in Texas to say this. I love them both and am a KC homer, but I've actually been all over Texas, tried tons of BBQ in DFW, SA, a...

It would also not bother me in the slightest if they go leech money from some other schmucks to further enrich themselves because as much as I have distaste for billionaire welfare, I mean, if they were good or even made an effort...

Briet's Stein in KCK - Great Rueben and Mac Salad, its also super cheap, i think its like 5-6 bucks It's been at least 10-12 years since I've been, but I feel like the first time I went it seemed like they were using Boar's Head or something, and I was like, "but I could do this it home...&quo...

God, I had an uncle like this, he would just be the pettiest little bitch about stuff and be a jerk to servers and then stiff them. I was just a kid at the time and couldn't really say or do anything, but it always stuck with me. Those experiences (combined with my own stint of waiting tables as a t...

Yeah, pretty much, although it is a little disingenuous to claim that nobody is saying climate change isn't happening or that it's not anthropogenically driven. Maybe nobody here is saying that (right now) but those claims are kind of hard to miss out in the wild.

I'm not a lawyer, so I'm curious why this would be frivolous. They, apparently, hired a contractor ( had one installed) to do a job that was then done incorrectly and indeed dangerously, that subsequently caused harm. What about that is frivolous? No idea if CC is the right defendant, but unless the...

If only it was a few moments. It is only a few moments, though. It doesn't actually take very long for one truck to pass another and move back over. It doesn't meaningfully delay the drivers who get stuck behind it. This is not a real problem and not worth spending billions of dollars to solve. Mak...

Yeah, when there's insufficient stuff to be outraged about, people just make shit up and get outraged about the reality that conforms to their biases instead of the reality that exists. It's been going on forever, but holy shit does the internet amplify that madness by about 10000000x (thanks social...

This should hopefully have alleviated at least some of the traffic nonsense at arrivals though, yeah? And now the Star can report about how inadequate our new garage is and how the old terminal garages never filled up (ignoring that B was always full). Sigh.

Re: Boring Company tech to help untangle highway mess
The limestone layers, both the Winterset and the Bethany Falls groups, are thick, sturdy, and level. They would be the best candidates for deep tunnel boring through KC. However, midtown and downtown represent significant plateaux, requiring any north-south route that would pass under the east-west...
